It’s a short walk as our pits will be right next to each other.
The 2013 VEX Robotics World Championship should be an amazing event. With over 700 teams in attendance from 24 countries, this event really feels like the "Olympic of Robotics’. There’s even an Olympic style parade of nations during the Friday opening ceremonies! Also unique to VRC is the five division setup being used in the High School competition. This set up allows for smaller divisions, givings teams more matches and a more manageable scouting experience. Instead of having a tradition playoff between the division winners, the 5 division winners play off in a “round robin” format, where each division winner plays each other once. After these 10 matches, the top two ranked division winners play in a best 2 out of 3 final. Imagine how cool this would be for FRC?
VEX and the RECF are very thankful for the support received from the FRC community. Here’s just a small sampling of the FRC teams who have team members volunteering at this event: 33, 78, 118, 188, 148, 177, 217, 254, 1114, 1241 1511, 1538, 2056, 2587, 3847. We also have some very familiar faces to the FRC community MCing at this event. JonDarr Bradshaw, Grant Cox, Eric Eckhart, Jack Kentfield and Jim Zondag, just to name a few.
If you have a chance in the next few days, you should really check out some of the event. [LEFT]Information about the 2013 VRC World Championship and webcast links can be found at http://www.robotevents.com/championship/

This sounds awesome. You’re really making me sad that I’m going to miss it.
Hopefully I’ll be able to make it sooner, rather than later.
See you next week.

Product unveiling in the mix, is this VEX specific or will it include new products for VEXPro as well?
I’m sure the answer will be “wait and see”
Sidenote: I really do need to get more involved in local VEX.
Normally I would say, “wait and see”, but there will be no new VEXpro products released at the 2013 VEX World Championships. All of our VEXpro products will be unveiled will be some time between September 1st and December 1st.
Sadly I’m not going because of money, but other 1200 teams are! Look out for the two 1200 teams that are going!
For those interested, the VEX webcast is up and going with their opening ceremonies at http://www.robotevents.com/robot-competitions/vex-robotics-competition/2013-vex-robotics-high-school-world-championship.html There were some really neat robots in the practice match and it should be a the best robotics competition going on this weekend.
New Vex game is being announced in 25 minutes (8:30 est), along with some new Vex products. Check it out on the webcast!
Looks like VEX is trying to take on FIRST LEGO League head on with a new product line. That should be interesting…
I say looks like because I can’t hear anything Paul and JVN are saying on the webcast.

Works similar to thebluealliance gameday, go to webcasts, then drag “Ceremonies” to the middle. It has sound.
VEX IQ is really impressing me.
Looks like LEGO blocks, can CAD it with a brand new Autodesk assembly program, and you program it with something similar to Scratch. You can also program with RobotC
This changes things massively for younger robot kids.
Thanks, but not when yer at work and they block those types of sites.
Forget the webcast - here…VEX IQ - VEX Robotics
The round robin is defiantly much better then the current division setup that FRC has. Wonder if one day FRC will adapt it as well?
Where is the webcast for the finals?
I meant which field, the drop down bar for webcast only has the 5 divisions listed.
Here’s a direct link.

Thank you!
So how many other people’s wallets are hurting or will soon be empty due to all this new cool VEX tech?
