VEXpro New Products 2024-2025

VEX Robotics is proud to release a few new additions to our product lineup for the 2025 FRC Season. Alongside the additions, we have some pricing updates to the popular Grip Lock wheel and many other products. We hope you are able to find cool ways to implement these new additions to our VEXpro catalog on your robots this year.

GripLock Wheels

There is nothing new with the Grip Lock Wheels. However, we have lowered the price for these wheels and tires, enabling easier access to more traction!

You can read more about the development and technology behind these wheels in Last Year’s Product Release Thread

Grip Tubes

Last year, we released a 2” silicon-wrapped intake roller that we called Grip Tube. This year, we are expanding the GripTube selection to offer 2 new sizes. These sizes, 1” and 1.25” help to round out this product line, allowing teams more packaging options for their intakes. You can find these products on the VersaRollers page on our website.

ThunderHex Spacer Stock

We are releasing a 36” long length of ½” ThunderHex Spacer. This will help enable teams to easily make longer, custom length shaft spacers with simple saw cuts.

VersaBlock V3

We’ve created a new revision of our popular VersaBlocks. These are smaller and lighter than before, helping to offer a better selection of application options. There are also off-set versions, placing the bearing slightly off the center line of the tubing it is mounted to, allowing easy implementation of drop-center drivetrains.

You can also find pricing updates on many other parts on our website. Many of our most popular products, including bearings, shafts, tubing, shaft collars, and more, have had prices updated to reduce costs for teams. Our goal is to provide teams with the essential components they need without breaking the budget, and we hope teams appreciate the savings on these frequently used parts.

Please note: Our Offices will be closed from 12/25/2024 to 01/02/2025. This includes our Customer Service Department, Sales Department, and our Warehouse.

VEX wishes you all a Happy Holiday Season, a Happy New Year, and Good Luck in the 2025 FRC Season!

It would be interesting to see how well the GripLock wheels would interface with and perform with the Rev MaxSpline shaft.

To put it simply, they don’t:

REV MaxSpline on the left, WCP SplineXL on the right. Though a similar profile, the sizes are quite a bit different. That said, it probably wouldn’t be to hard to come up with some kind of adapter if you wanted to do this (though using these wheels for things besides drivetrain might be a bit of an expensive solution compared to others).

Incidentally, while I was going through the Grip Lock wheel model, I got a good chuckle out of one of the file names they used…

Thanks for dropping those in CAD and figuring out the gap.
Yep, a simple adapter would be easy to design, but as you pointed out, there are better options.

That is an awesome file name!

Im not sure how they did it, but I saw a photo of 971s tank drive with the center wheel being a griplock.

3D Printed Hub? Or if your dive was dead-axle and connected to a sprocket/pulley you could just use the existing hubs and bolt pattern.

@ndp did y’all do that?

Printed a hub and did try them as the center wheels on the 2024 971 robot. It didn’t drive well with them on, too much compliance in the tread that took out the center drop. Ended up running the standard WCP traction wheels with blue nitrile, like prior seasons.

I don’t have the model for the wheel hub we had designed. Maybe someone who’s currently on 971 can help provide that.

If anyone here used them last year, could they share how well these hold up, for how many matches and stuff like that

I’d check out this thread I made a while back: Vex Grip Lock Wheel impressions?

Just what I was looking for, thanks!

This still might make a heck of an intake wheel, depending on the game piece of course. It might even work under water

Something like the center wheel(s) on an intake for a 2022 gamepiece.

If the game piece is covered in carpet…

v0.1 turned out decently. No testing at this point, just printing.

Iirc the previous generations clamping VersaBlocks were like this by default? I definitely remember a 1/16" offset, and you flip directions to get a 1/8" drop. Cool that there’s a centered version though.

these wheels did us incredibly this off-season, can’t wait to continue using them this upcoming season!

Any word on when 1/2" Thunderhex will be back in stock? I’m noticing its disappeared from the website. :worried:

To echo this, @bkahl, I’ve noticed a number of products have completely dropped off the VEXPro website lately, not just been listed as “Temporarily Out of Stock”. Is this possibly a website bug, or are these products just discontinued or something?

In addition to 1/2" Thunderhex, I’ve also noticed 1" x 2" x 0.0625" Pre-Drilled VersaFrame, and VP Lite Ring Gears, amongst others, have been missing too.
