VH-109 Access Point for Multiple Robots?

What is the recommended setup for at home practice with two robots with the VH-109? We want to use the VH-109 WiFi 6E. The docs are clear how to use two VH-109, one as an access point, to achieve this. However, if we have a second robot, with a third VH-109, I don’t see how this approach scales to support multiple robots. Is our only option to convert a VH-109 to a VH-113 and configure a managed switch? We aren’t opposed to doing this, but I’d rather avoid the complexity. Suggestions?

Your best option maybe to use a VH-109 and convert it to a AP, or a VH-113 if you grab one when they become available. I don’t think it will be too complex to set up. If anything, you could contact VIVID HOSTING if you have any question on setting it up.

If you don’t want to buy a 4th VH-109 then yes you would need a VH-109/VH-113 running the access point firmware.

This would also require a managed switch connected to the access point.
(This TP-Link for example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K4DS5KU)

Unless you have computers capable of connecting to 6GHz wireless, then you can connect them to the SSID being broadcast by the access point, removing the need for the switch.

FWIW, we haven’t yet connected a second robot to our radio (we still just have the one robot!), but we did connect a second computer to our VH-109 running the regular firmware in AP mode using one of these Wi-Fi 6E USB adapters: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D4PL4FQM/

I just wanted to share that that was successful, in case anyone else is searching for a USB adapter to add compatible Wi-Fi to laptop.

That’s good news. I bought a cheaper adapter from Amazon and it didn’t work reliably at all.
