VH109 Radio Not connecting to laptop

Hey, my team has never used the new radios and are starting to

We have 2 VH109s:

  • One on our radios is on the robot, connected to power and the Rio (radio)
  • The other is connected to the WCP PoE wall adaptor to the radio’s Rio port (access point)

Both have the same 1.2.6 Firmware (whatever the newest one is) (neither have access point specific software)

We’ve connected the robot successfully directly from the radio to laptop (without access point) however the connection was awful if it let me connect at all

They both have the same ssid name (robot) and 2.4/6 WPA Keys of “password”

When I got the rf link at the top of robot.local working it said there was connection to the robot but no coms in driver station

Don’t use 2.4 GHz to connect. As you found, it gives poor performance in many wireless environments. I would recommend you disable 2.4 GHz entirely on the two radios. Although you have a second radio set up as an Access Point (AP), only relatively new laptops/wifi cards with Windows 11 can connect wirelessly to it at 6 GHz. Connecting between the laptop and the AP with a wired (Ethernet) connection is another option.
