Victor controller problem

We are experiencing a problem with our victor controller modules. They run well for a short time then slowly deteriorate. Yet if we connect the motor to a spike, they work fine. We used the same configuration last year with good results. Is there a tuning procedure, or something we need to do to calibrate these? We’ve never experienced this before.

Either its heat damage, a controller issue, or they are just losing calibration.

Its probably the calibration. But a more detailed discription of how they are behaving would help.

There is a recalibration process you can run, instructions are in the victor user manual.

If it still doesn’t work right, try it with another bot controller if you can get your hands on one.

IT IS ALMOST CERTAINLY NOT CALIBRATION!

If your motors are getting tired it is probably because you are using the Keyang motors and they have a breaker inside of them that cuts the voltage when the motors get too hot.

Check the lights on the Victor. If when you give them full gas, you see a green LED and when you go full reverse you get a red LED, then it is very likely that the Victors are working just fine.

Your will have relax your driving style or get a better ratio on your motors or find some other way to keep your motors from overheating.

Okay, this may sound dumb, and it is, but I did it once. When connecting your fan to the power screws, make sure that the positive wire doesn’t touch the heatsink – it’s negative! Doing so will short the victor, partially or fully fragging it. You probably won’t even notice it until it’s too late, like during a match. The Victor will perform erratically or just plain not function in certain situations, all of which are unique to the fragged Victor. Also, it’s not the most Kosher thing to attach a variable current motor to a Spike; I’d advise against using it for long periods. But the number one thing to do is check your wiring before you turn it on and NEVER EVER DO WIRING WHILE IT’S HOT!!!
