Can anyone help me with adding a video (any format) into an animation? All previous attempts have been in vain… I am a 3dstudio max newbie, which is not a good thing, I have been told. Any suggestions would be appreciated:) Thanks.
do you want to composite? or what?
Hi, I think I know what you mean but let me make sure. What you want to do is like put a video of something else into you animation right? If so you need to put it onto a box, My partener who is not here has done it, but im sure zeinin you could tell him or anybody else could, I dont have the time to personially do it my self right now.

just use an avi as a texture map
You can assign movie files as textures in any bitmap channel, but be careful that you line up the timing when you do so. The manuals do a pretty good job of explaining the fine points, IIRC.
that is what i’m referring to, tyler. I’m still not totally sure how to do the procedure, but i have to wait for the video to be converted to an .avi anyway. so far all i know is you need a box, im pretty unclear after that thanks for the help

I would like to say I am here, but anyway…
What you need to do is convert your video into a .avi file (or any other supported type), then make any sort of object you want to place it on (a box or plane usualy works the best). Open the material editer and select a blank material. On the right side of the diffuse color box there is a small gray square. Click on this, then select the option bitmap. Another window will open and ask you want file you want to use. Change the file type to .avi (or whatever), then find your video file and open it. Apply this material to the object you just made. When you render the file the video will apper in the shape of the object.
Note I would be careful with how much video you use, and how big it is displayed, since this may cause the render to be very large.**[/quote]
thanks for the help, i really appreciate it. i tried it out and it works.
