This years scrimmage was another success! Teams 179, 1251, 1523, and 1889 showed up to throw down some pre-ship action.

The video pretty much speaks for itself, so check it out here

The scrimmage was a great success and we are very glad to have been there.

:]

1523 looks beastly.

Cool video Tim, good job. Thanks for coming everybody, it was a lot of fun!

nice! thanks for the video. did a human player just throw a ringer on at the end? if so, WOW.

for some reason i found that really graceful
the rampbot is beastly
sigh our robot isnt even done yet

Yes, that was a human player score. It happened a few times. The scrimmage was a lot of fun. Hope the weather is as nice at FL Regionals. Good luck as all teams complete their robots for shipment!

Very nice video Tim.

Chet, Dan et al. of Swamp Thing, thanks so much for opening your home to us. Nicely done as usual. Good luck to everyone!

Excellent video. I wish we were there.

Swampthing is going to be a contender this year, for sure.

MARS looks good, too.

And Wellington is going to be in the fray.

My only concern is that Dillard is the only person in the whole video that was wearing safety glasses. Good job, Gary. The safety police are going to be looking for the rest of you at the regional. :frowning:

Look at all of those people out there watching robots in the sun…
looks out of window at the 19+ inches of snow in his driveway. Curses Lake Ontario

Wow, I love 179’s ramp! Very origami-like.

I’m shaking in my boots now for the florida regional!

Thanks for creating and sharing this great video! If this scrimmage is anything to go by, I think we’re in for a really exciting game this year.

Nice robots, too

Great Video…Everyone looks fantastic. Can’t wait till UCF

That’s it. 1251, you’re going to have to somehow lasso all three of the other teams there and get them to come with you to Palmetto.

Great video–you’re giving all of us who’re far behind some great ideas.

Looks like you all got some good practice in yesterday! I bet that was fun, any words of wisdom for how actual gameplay is as opposed to speculation? Anything you found interesting, or something unexpected?

I loved 179’s ramp, and I’m betting young 1889 is going to be a force this year.

wow. all those bots look awesome. good luck throughout the season

Hi Barry,
Lets see as far as the “how did it play out” question.
Scoring with these teams came a lot easier than I though it might with an arm, however scoring on the other side of the rack didn’t happen much. the size, shape obstruction, and the other teams being there makes it very difficult. I deffinitely see these racks being fully covered in ringers by the end of the match where no deffense is played. When we switched into defense, only 1 score was made against us.
The matches were played gently, so I’m not sure what it will be like when the gloves come off. I can say that we started out with everyone just scoring the side facing them. It just comes naturally to want to get more up than the other guy, but all that happened is both got lots up and cancelled out the rows. We had a few 6-7 rows and after that, they immediately tried to break rows, they hung effective spoilers.
The ramp was used and worked quickly at the end, that 30 or 60 points will come in handy. But a good ring game needs to accompany those points.
Our Autonomous worked consistently, and that extra keeper on there was actually the catalyst for the 6-7 rows we had a few times.
However I think this game will change quickly into a brawl and this scoring idea will be done by the forgotten or the fittest.

Also the radio dropout issue was with everyone. The radios were constantly going out and bots were coasting where they shouldn’t have.

Agreed, its not going to be easy at all, especially when there already are ringers hanging on your side of the rack, visibility to the other side was near impossible, Its definetly going to be an interesting competition!
