Hello, my team is trying to configure and download new firmware onto our radios but it needs a password that we haven’t set.
We cannot set the password because we can’t connect so I guess my question is, what’s the default password if any and if there isn’t one then what do we do?
Is this a brand new radio that came in the KoP, or one that you’ve purchased and had for a while?
Can you provide a little more detail about exactly what you’re doing when it asks for a password? Is it when you’re connecting with a web browser (at what address)? Is it when you’re trying to connect to it wirelessly? Some other time?
This is one that we’ve purchased about a week ago but just opened.
We are using a Poe adapter to power the radio through the Ethernet Rio port on the radio and connecting another Ethernet cable into the computer through the ds port on the radio. When we do this and go to network connections it says vividhosting but when we try to connect to that network it asks for a password. We have looked at every piece of documentation we can find but it says that the password has to be configured. We can’t configure the password without being connected to the radio so we tried looking for a default password that we could use but nothing worked.
Navigating to the ip address through a web browser didn’t work either.
Just to confirm, the vividhosting network connection is a wireless connection? You should be doing the initial configuration via ethernet.
Have you tried connecting to radio.local
as specified here: Programming your Radio — FIRST Robotics Competition documentation Have you tried the troubleshooting on that page?
The connection is wired, but for some reason it won’t connect automatically unless you put in a password. I tried to access the radio.local but it said “page cannot be loaded”. I looked at the trouble shooting and the only thing there that might work and we haven’t tried yet is configuring a static ip address
That sounds very strange. Can you post a picture? Is this on a school managed computer?
It’s on a personal laptop that isn’t managed by the school. I’m not in the classroom right now but next time we have a robotics meeting I can take a picture
Can you post a screenshot of the password prompt you are seeing?
Yes I can, I’ll screen shot it next time I have the computer, however I learned something that might be the problem.
I’ve been trying to access a few websites today and a few of them said “cannot be reached”. An example of one of them is the limelight documentation website. For context, I am connected to the internet and the website works fine on another computer connected to the exact same internet. I tried to ping and tracert the ip for the specific website with command prompt and it said that there was a general error and out of 4 packets that were sent, 4 were lost. This is how it’s been with quite a few sites so I don’t think that the issue is the radios, I think that it’s the network settings on the computer. I’ll also note that fire wall and anti viruses are disabled so it’s most likely not a problem with that
