How do you wire the voltage sensor to the cRIO analog sensor input?
Voltage sensor? If you are talking about how to setup/activate the battery voltage monitoring capabilities built into the Analog breakout board then the information you are looking for is on page 21 and 22 of Chapter 3 of the Control System Manual.
You will need to install a jumper on some of the pins of the Analog Breakout board connected to the module in Slot 1 of your cRIO.
Since it is CRITICAL that at least one person on your team and preferably all of your electrical and programming members read the documentation regarding the new control system I will not cite the exact procedure here.
If you have further questions after referencing the documentation I referred to then feel free to ask them here.
The manuals says to:
Place jumper on the top 2 pins for
connecting battery voltage to AI8 or
jumper on the bottom 2 pins for
connecting AI8 from the 3x8 connector
What does that mean? How will the result differ if I’ve got it connected to the top 2 vs the bottom 2?
Analog Input #8 in Slot 1 is the middle pin of the 3-pin header on the Analog Breakout. When the jumper is connected to the top 2 pins, battery voltage is connected to Analog Input #8. When the jumper is connected to the bottom 2 pins, the 8th input on the 3x8 pin field is connected to Analog Input #8 in case you’ve get an 8th analog voltage to read. With no jumper installed, Analog Input #8 is floating and indeterminate.
Per the rules, the jumper MUST be installed for battery voltage monitoring on Analog Input #8 of Slot 1.

If you use the Analog Bumper in Slot 2, you would typically jumper the lower two pins on that, because you don’t need to be reading the battery voltage in two different places.
