VRM -Ethernet switch

Hi everyone,

Reaching out on behalf of 6628, we are using an Ethernet Switch to access our limelight pipelines while in the pits.

We use POE (power over Ethernet) to power our competition radio and then it’s wired into the VRM (voltage regulator module) from the PDP (power distribution panel). The Ethernet switch uses the 5v/2a rail on the VRM while the POE cable uses the 12v/2a rail to power the radio if I can call correctly.
Currently it is wired up on two separate VRMS even though they aren’t on the same rail technically speaking.

Will we be able to switch it over to a single VRM? Or will that cause unforeseen power issues with it?
Thanks,

Hayden

Yes you can. The VRM internally has two separate regulators, one for 5V and one for 12V, so the only thing electrically in common will be the input rail.
