VRM Not Receiving Power

Hi CD!

The rookies of 6341 need your help. Our VRM has suddenly stopped working. We were running our radio and a few LEDs through the VRM, at which time it became very hot, and we turned off the robot. Upon re-enabling the robot, we could not get power to our radio, LEDs, and did not have either the 5v or 12v LED on the VRM lit. Please help!

My limited knowledge leads me to believe we burnt it out, however, I would prefer not to re-order a KoP item  Thanks CD!

Have you checked the fuse on the PDP?

Yes, both the 10a and 20a fuses are fine. No visible damage.

Did you check them with a meter? Than can visibly look fine, but in fact be blown. Also measure the resistance between the plus and minus of the power in on the VRM.

for testing purposes, try powering the VRM directly from a WAGO connector.

It is nice to have an extra VRM lying around.

Noah,
It sounds to me like a short developed in your LED string. For the VRM to get hot, it would have been delivering a lot of current. Please contact CTRE and they will tell you what to do. They may decide to repair or you might have to buy a new one. In any case it would be good to have a spare.
