Ways of retaining hex shafts?

How is a binding screw different than a regular low-profile head screw? (Asking because I’m dumb)

Safety wiring does a pretty darn good job too! :-p
But yeah, Nord lockwashers rock.

Much bigger head to spread the load out over your mushy plant fibers… Sidewalk bolts have an even bigger head with a beveled edge to keep people from tripping over them and to hide oversize mating holes.

I’m excited to start using the new flanged 10-32 REV is selling with their shafts (#10-32 Shaft End Screw - 10 Pack - REV Robotics).

Being able to keep screw size for the ends of shaft the same as the rest of the robot hardware will be convenient, and the washer being incorporated into the screw head keeps things simple and less likely to lose hardware.

Those look like the bolts holding together a shelf unit I built many years ago. I think I got them from a woodworking supply place like Rockler or Woodcraft. I am pretty sure I have also seen them in the fastener section of Home Depot labeled something like “furniture bolts”.

Yes, they are usually called furniture bolts. I found them when I worked in furniture design, they work great for robots.

These have really large heads, .67” I think much bigger that a standard flanged button head, and they’re fairly cheap.

The thin VEX collars work well if you just swap the 4-40 hex head bolts with torx head, you can find them on McMaster. The common issue is the hex strips and then they can’t be tightened fully. Have seen this issue on multiple teams now.
