WCP 2024-25 | Product Release & Updates

For better or worse, we’ve swapped modules in competition a couple of times. It defers troubleshooting to a time when things are a little less hectic and removes that from the critical path of getting the robot onto the field.

Thanks for pointing out the other differences; I’d overlooked the difference in wheel diameter, in particular.

I think I heard one Citrus’ B / C bots had swerve X2? Also curious to hear their thoughts. No robots had the new molded grippy wheels as those haven’t arrived yet, and that is probably the major performance delta you’d see vs current X and Mk4 modules with black neoprene tread.

I believe the Spartan Robotics amp bot/B-bot had the new modules, but @ndp would have to confirm.

Thanks for the shout.

Yes, 9971 (our amp bot the students built) was running Swerve X2i, with normal traction wheels and the stock black nitrile tread. I am not sure we are quite the ones to provide data on a performance delta between the X and X2. Like Andrew mentioned, we are very excited to get our hands on the new Molded High Grip wheels once they come in as that should be a decent difference over the traction wheels.

From a hardware standpoint, just the combined gearsets with the integrated shafts and coupled double gears is a massive improvement. It is so nice to not have to glue any hex bores on these modules like we typically do. The new wheel/fork setup there is also very nice with the improved shaft/fork and the wider 4" wheels.

Swerve X2 will be our choice to run in the future and we have been exceptionally happy with them. The WCP team knocked it out of the park (but when don’t they?).

That one time with the pneumatic wheels that was checks notes nearly 9 years ago?
Seems like a pretty good record.

We have a robot in the shop with X2 modules, but the ones at MTTD were all assorted SDS modules.

Initial reactions are that the X2s look dope! Assembly was pretty smooth, the wide wheels are great, and the variety of form factor options are going to be helpful.

R.C. is there a time frame of the Anderson adapters for the Krakens to be in stock? WCP-1380. They were not listed on the stock status page. We were hoping to use these on our steering motors to simplify can wiring

We received our krakens today and are excited to pair them with the x2i modules but we still haven’t received tracking. Is there any timeline for when teams may expect it?

We had a customs delay on swerve stuff. Just got a couple pallets today. We are hoping to verify everything and then start getting modules out the door next week.

Also got these in to verify and test. Hopefully spikey wheels will be shipping end of month.

Apologies if this has question has already been answered, but my team is looking to move to the X2S modules for this coming season. My question is when are the X2S modules, X44 motors, and through-bore cancoders expected to ship out. Will they be available before the season? If the answer is no, then we will go with the X2 line of modules. Thanks

Stock status site does not show X44s at all – is this good news or bad news? as in, are they already caught up on orders or so far away from shipping out that they are not listed?

I’m expecting to do ETA’s for all the new products around the end of November. I want to make sure we have firm timelines before putting out dates. Most if not items will trickle in before kickoff.

X44 specifically has all tools done. Should get final production sample here soon to approve. The x44 uses some components from x60 so we’ve been able to get ahead of the curve on long lead time components.

We are currently expecting everything you listed above to ship out before kickoff. See RC’s post above.

Any estimate for when the 1x1 Punched Tubing will begin to ship?

@R.C any updates on the heatsink/fan for the VH-109?

For the new swerve (for use the x2i) The pictures of the kit are with aluminum wheels but in the onshape and the pdf it shows the new molded wheel. Which actually comes base standard?
