Quick Question: We are using the WCP Flipped Single-speed 3-CIM gearbox, but we are putting our belts on the wheel-side of our frame. The SS Axle appears a bit shorter than what we’d need. We are considering just replacing it with a length of thunderhex and replacing the bearing holding the shaft in with a hex bearing, then using shaft clamps on both sides of the bearing to hold everything in place.
Has anybody done this particular operation? We don’t have access to a lathe so can’t just turn a new shaft.
Yes, we know that it’s not really the best design choice – we were originally going to go with the 3 CIM non-flipped Gearbox (which has the shaft bearing a lot closer to the wheels), but it was backordered everywhere, and we didn’t want to risk waiting unto February for it to come in.
