We just finished our drivetrain, which we built in 2 days after receiving our KOP and we hooked up electrical and software the 2 days after (we just got the programming working a few minutes ago).
Is this good progress? We had no clue what we were doing, but we were learning every step out of the way and figuring everything out, in large part due to helpful Chief Delphi topics.
That’s excellent progress! Getting a working test-bed and/or robot drivetrain in the first 3 days is an awesome achievement especially for a rookie team.
Now I would recommend deciding what it is that your team wants your robot to do. Are you going to score baskets? If so how and how are you going to design and build a working mechanism to do so? Here’s an excellent video on First* design. And The Kitbot on Steriods is allways a cool robot platform for any team with limited resources.
With all design challenges I would suggest looking through video of past robots to see what worked and what didn’t in similar games in the past. This year’s game is most similar to 2006, 2009, and 2001.
