We are in need of help. Andy mark and rev robotics are out of the spark max CAN wire. We need it to start practice driving. we are going to need about 5 of them.
Pretty sure we have enough spares to cover you but won’t be in the build room until Thursday to be able to get them. If no one else comes though quicker for you then message me
Edit: where are you located?
Smithville High School, Texas
I might be able to get into the school on monday to get them if no one else that might be local to you can help. Do you need 5 total or 5 packs of 2 ?
We need five total, but we can do three packs of two
Do you have the PWM cables they came with? If so, you could try cutting off the single DuPont connector and replacing it with two pairs of CAN wires. You’ll need to pay attention to the pinout, but electrically both signals go to the same place.
We have enough for sure then
I highly encourage you to buy two spools of wire and a $20 crimping set - it’s super easy to do, allows you to make custom lengths of wires, and is way cheaper than buying a ton of pre-crimped extensions to daisy chain together.
That’s fine for the normal PWM wires. But crimping those JST connectors, especially with the jumpers so your bus doesn’t fail if the SPARK dies, isn’t so easy. You might do it if you’re in a pinch, but better to use the professionally-crimped ones from REV.
If you only need the wires and already have the connectors, you can order from one of the vendor (Thiftybot) - QTY 1 - 25 feet - 22 AWG CAN Bus Wire . If you need connectors, you probably can just get those from Amazon (along with crimper).
Let’s Go Wago! A pair of wire cutters/strippers + Wago - JST = hassle free CAN.
100% Wago in 2023. NO JST’s. Tons of hard hits 0 failures. NOTE: we do use ferrules on the CAN wires. A simple non scientific pull test using Wagos and bare wires vs Wago’s and ferrules will prove that the ferrules make a huge difference.
While these are great, these won’t plug into a Spark MAX, which is what this thread is about. I wish it was legal to desolder that JST PH and just go direct to board.
@Kwhome5…put this on the needs list. @thatonemf5503…remind him.
You can also buy these for pretty much the same price in your next order from AndyMark.
On the topic of crimping the connectors on yourself: how do you do that? The official cable seems to have two 22AWG wires going in to each terminal of the connector, but JST doesn’t seem to sell any contacts for this connector that are rated for anything bigger than 24AWG.
Those connectors wont plug into the sparkmax which is what this thread is about
Again will not plug into a sparkmax
Do you still need these?
Yes, and like we said originally, we’ll pay for shipping
Just need an address, i sent a couple dm
