Let’s see some of the new web designing talent the 2005 season brings. This is of course the successor to the 2004 thread, but since people are dying to showcase their work, it’s best to post here rather than there now. The guidelines are to limit discussion as this is a showcase thread more than anything. If you want to discuss an individual site or some design element, or FIRST’s rules for the award (which as of this post aren’t out), start a new thread.
http://www.team1208.org/ is the site we had running on a whim over the 2004 season. It’s powered by an aging PHP4-written backend that a friend and I hacked together (literally) in a handful of hours. The design was done by me and another friend over the span of several days. In retrospect, it’s ugly, and the code sucks, but I (and evidently also the folks who judged sites at the STL regional) thought it was “okay” back in the day.
The one I’m working on in Draco/mod_python is at http://dev.team1208.org/ and runs on a couple of Celeron 700’s at my house. I started earlier this year on settling on a decent page layout for the site so I could buy myself some time to work on and perfect the backend. For what it’s worth, it’s overly unfinished, but the page layout is there with some greeking applied.
http://hhsrobotics.circuitrunners.com is my baby and my team’s website. I’ve still got plenty of work to do over this winter break, including updating with the new logo, and spicing up the design a bit, as well as any changes concurrent with the 2005 rules, but it works for now.
That is my teams website, i have put a lot of work into it, but there are still many problems that need to be fixed. Right now i am working on the Navigation Menu, and the Gallery.
It probably isn’t the best design, but i plan to go for more content than design, however, i don’t have hardly any content on there, sigh, sadness.
Redesigned for the new year and ready to go!.. We have over 1000 pictures and media that is either uploaded or scheduled to be uploaded in the next few days…
some bits still not working properly, but the website was hand coded by one of the team. We probably will be entering it this year, assuming we get it completely and utterly working
This year would be the first time in about 4 years since our team put the effort into the website. We made our own php and mysql database as well as made it html and css validated. The first logo hasn’t been changed yet and some of the links aren’t up yet though
