Red Storm Team 509 is pleased to announce that we have been selected to host the Week Zero Event for 2018!

We are honored to have been selected by FIRST to host this event and are excited to invite 32 teams to attend. The event will be held at Bedford High School on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

We’re looking forward to making this the best event possible.
Registration opens Monday, January 15th at noon (EST).

Fun fact: 4 of New England’s 5 Einstein Representatives in 2017 attended Week 0 last season (125, 1058, 2084, 5687). Could we be seeing some more Einstein bound robots at Week 0 in 2018?

At the past few Week Zero events the organizers tried to keep team attendance to a reasonable number. Is that the case again this year?

Rick, We are limiting the registered teams to 32 as requested by FIRST. If you want to bring your entire team to the event that shouldn’t be a problem. We had 41 teams here last year for a district event, and playoffs were a bit tight in the stands but we should be ok with 32 teams. Bring everyone! The more the merrier!

Does it matter what color bumpers we have?

Assuming everything goes as planned we will be live streaming the event on the official FIRST Twitch Channel. I am not sure if or how they will be archived.

8:45 am – 11:30 am Qualifying Matches

FIRST does not enforce bumper color rules at the event, however you need to have a set of bumpers on your robot to compete on the field.

Does anyone at week zero have two 3:1 versaplanetary gear ratio that we could use along with one more ring gear? We will pay whatever is needed.

We have a bunch of 3:1 from last year but they seized up fairly frequently and possibly a ring gear. PM if you want more details.

I heard some teams may have dropped, is there an updated team list?

This is the current registration list as of noon today. I have reached out to wait list teams but haven’t heard back from some of them. Right now we are at 29 teams with a capacity of 32. If your team wants to add to the wait list please let me know via PM.
