Red Storm Team 509 is pleased to announce that we have been selected to host the Week Zero Event for 2022!
We are honored to have been selected by FIRST to host this event and are excited to invite 32 teams to attend. The event will be held at Bedford High School on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
We’re looking forward to making this the best event possible.
Registration opens Monday, January 24 at noon (EST). We will be capping registration at 32 teams with a waitlist formed after 32 teams have registered. The registration fee is $250 payable via check or credit card. Invoices will be mailed to the team lead 24 hours after registration.
See Week Zero 2022 for more information and to register.
We will also be looking for volunteers to help with field setup, queueing, refereeing, and field disassembly. Please message me if you are interested in helping!
Week Zero is less than a week away and I wanted to share the roles we still need help with at the event. Please look at the signup genius if you are interested in one of our volunteer roles.

Also here is a link to the rest of the Week Zero information.
Well, I’m guessing it’s that the event wasn’t in FIRST’s database (or at least not exposed to their API) yet. But it looks like they just recently added it, and presumably The Blue Alliance will import it and add it to their own list at some point this weekend.
Ill slap this at the very top, Week 0 data isint very representative of actual events. We still have another 2 weeks before the first official event, which gives lots of time for teams to improve before touching the carpet. Along with that, I did all of this by hand and did not do any extra checks to make sure its fully accurate.
That said, I took some notes of the upper hub shots teams attempted during teleop throughout elims. Out of the 379 total shots:
197 (~52%) scored points
42(~11%) bounced out
82 (~22%) totally missed the hub
57 (~15%) bounced off of the upper hub without entering
I did not track who specifically missed from where, but it definitely seemed like teams who shot farther away did worse when it came to accuracy.
Accuracy throughout elims were also all over the place. Matches could vary from 30% to 72%, with the worst matches being Finals 2 (30.4% accurate) and Quarterfinals 4 (30.8% accurate). Ive slapped the data into this GSheet if you want to mess with it. Im not very good with doing charting on Sheets, but I added a couple things I thought were worthwhile.
Here are my scouting notes on various Foul events I saw, some I could not see why. points credited in ()
Match 4: Detached bumper (3+ disable)
Match 5 : ? (9)
Match 7: too many cargo/ count (9)
Match 10: Control 3 Cargo (3)
Match 11: ? (6)
Match 12: Cross field touch auto (3)
Match 13: Completely out of control auto (18)
Playoffs: Touch in last 30 seconds in hanger (3)
Some observations after watching/rewatching Week 0:
Consistency wins
Traversal climb wins (except if not paired correctly in Elim’s)
Fast traversal climb > slow traversal climb
A strong HG alliance can beat a traversal climber
Auto run-up is real
HS kids can and do score in Auto, sometimes
Fouls can decide
Defense helps
Tune that HG shot
