Week Zero 2024 Events

We are looking for a New England Week Zero Event. Can anyone share info? I recall last year was Nashua, NH but am not certain.

99% sure it will return. Usually info about it comes much later. I would expect to hear dates in December, January, or even February. Expect 1 or 2 weeks before week 1 events, which are March 1st. It is usually in some area surrounding Manchester, NH.

OK I’m newish, team 8567 at this, but it’s a little different than what I expected…

Week 0 is actually week minus 1 so there is a week in between week 0 and week 1 of qualifying season. Feb 17 week 0 and week 1 is Mar 1. Or am I missing something?

The official “Week 0” event is two weeks before week 1, yes. Sometimes there are other scrimmages or events with “week 0” in their name in the week before week 1 (e.g. Kettering Week 0 in Michigan). The official Week 0 event is usually the first place where the new season’s FMS is tested end-to-end in a competition environment, so the extra week gives FIRST some more time to iron out any issues.

The discrepancy of having 2 weeks between Week 0 and Week 1 comes from the old shipping date. You had to crate and ship the robot on the Tuesday (?) following what is now called Week 0. So no one had a robot in possession for the week in between 0 and 1, and it disappeared from the FRC calendar.

Then there was the year with a Week 1/2…

With there being no bag, and with many districts trying to cram what was 6 weeks worth of events into 5 weeks instead, I’m kind of surprised that the competitions aren’t starting a week earlier now to allow for 6 weeks again.

This is great news! Right in our backyard. Hope we get a spot!

We will have a thread here on chief Delphi, we will post on the NE FIRST Discord, and the 509 website after kickoff.

Has the separate thread for Week Zero been posted? I could not find it.

Also, do you know how much time 509 plans to have between announcing signups and opening them? It would be great - especially for the less-experienced teams - if there’s at least a few days for word to spread, so interested teams have the chance to find out about the signup-opening-date before it’s full.

Thank you folks for hosting!

Is their any limit to the number of people we can bring to week 0?

There are no guidelines for the number of attendees per team. Bring 10, bring 50, if we can keep it under 100 per team that would be good. -Zach
