Weekly Wins 04-15-2022

It’s been one of those weeks…

I def need to hear some cool things people have been up to, so what you got?

I got to play with some cool new (to me) libraries in Go earlier this week. I really do enjoy it as a language.

Continuing the theme from last week, I SMASHED it this week, I broke my all time walking record, which was ±43.100 steps, by walking ±44.100 steps on Tuesday, in a rare walk to, AND from Ayse’s house. (usually I walk one way, and metro the other, because it’s a long tiring walk - though drop dead gorgeous).

And I didn’t sit down after that, I also cleaned part of my office to be almost spotless, and it’s been years since we properly cleaned it. So that’s nice.

We had breakfast with a friend from out of town yesterday in the old city at a very unique restaurant that makes amazing breakfasts.

Some photos from the walks to and from the office, and to and from Ayse’s house.
Hagia Sophia at night (I don’t walk directly home, it’s like an extra km or two in a 32 km day to walk by Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet, so, I do. The last one is our brand new space-age Cruise ship terminal / outdoor mall along the Bosphorus that makes me feel like I’m walking into year 2100 every time I go there.

I got hired this week by a company who is super flexible/willing to work with my college schedule as well as paying me well, and I’m excited!

Moved to our new office/warehouse where I managed to cram in dual ultrawides on a 5’ desk (side by side).
The real win is finding a dock that would drive dual 3k monitors without throwing a fit, but a close second is the giant panoramic window next to my desk.

Got myself and my dad out to a bike ride for the first time in a couple of months, and no crashes or other incidents were had.

I finally bit the bullet and learned how to use a Cricut machine! It wasn’t as complex as I expected, and I managed to make a whole bunch of t-shirta and stencils.

Bought an enclosure for my Ender 5 which means I can now start working on building a Voron printer.

Competed at NE DCMP #NotMilk

Qualified for worlds! Haven’t gone since 2016 so I’m super stoked to see my friends again.

I printed my dad’s first big CAD model on my Prusa! He’s a programmer by profession so he’s been learning OpenSCAD since the interface is more familiar.

You mean you didn’t use the Voron best practice of a cardboard box? Or a garbage bag?

My family has a Cricut, and they are awesome! We’ve used it to make custom decals, so I am excited that you have one!

Yeah! They’re really nice. We have a team one that we use for spirit/PR tasks, and I just never used it until now! (Also, it’s the only way we are getting shirts for Houston.)

Qualified for Worlds! And had our deepest ever run at Michigan State Champs playoffs reaching the division semifinals.

Those photos are really nice and make me want to visit.

I tried out a newly opened set of mountain bike trails. They are still rather bumpy so I got a really good workout. It would be back to go explore more of that trail system. I also met and chatted with two other riders.

Got to start putting more into my travel fund. So many nice places to visit. So little time.
