It’s kickoff eve so let’s share some wins we had leading up to it. But also, what are you looking forward to this season?
My win - made it safely back out west and my cats are happy.
I’m looking forward to this season being fairly relaxed for me. Im not working with a team so posting the weekly wins threads is about my entire contribution to FRC this year.
Honestly the biggest win this week was how excited the students are for kickoff. This is my first kickoff post college graduation and I’m super pumped for the season, but seeing the students this excited is super neat. That was me not too long ago!! Another big win, I got some electronics kitted and sent over to @Ryan_Dognaux in preparation for kickoff. Good luck to everyone this season!
I got to try out not 1, but two brand new metro lines/extensions this week. on Monday, M7’s Yıldız Extension (in my neighborhood) (2 stops, driverless, run as a shuttle for now) opened, and on Friday M8 opened on the asian side. My city’s “her yere Metro, her yerde Metro” plan is finally really starting to come together. (Metro going everywhere, Metro everywhere)
Additionally, Kickoff was fun, I was helping run the Turkish and Turkish Sign Language simultaneous broadcast of kickoff from a sponsor’s office (TurkNet - ISP) in Torun Center, which is a really gorgeous skyscraper complex with a really nice couple of office floors in the basement, and is also in the neighborhood I live in. So that was a lot of fun. I survived moving hundreds of boxes delivering the kits to kickoff locations, one of my coworkers former students drives a large van for a living so we hired him, and he is such a calm pleasant driver (rare find in İstanbul)
It’s been a fun week for me. And I am super duper jazzed about the metro lines. I’ll likely never use them again - as they don’t exist in my life’s pathways, but I’m super happy that the city is doing such a good job of expanding the metro, and I know it will make the city a better place to live.
Also after a couple month break I returned to the gym today. That’s a good thing.
