Weekly Wins 10-04-2024

Not a gif this week but it’s related to my win so I’m counting it (no I didn’t get another cat)

Who had something cool happen this week? We want to celebrate them.

So, the win - my other half’s uncles rescued a kitty this week. Found the poor little guy in their garage looking for food. He’s got some health issues and we’re hoping for him. His name is Bullet… because apparently someone took a shot at him (and the bullet is still in there) But from what they say he’s a sweet cat.

Usual PSA - black cats are frequently the last to be adopted and are often called “aggressive” . As the caretaker to 3 large black rescue cats one of whom was labelled “aggressive” by the shelter, not true.

Well, everything has silverlinings. Highly unfortunate circumstances that I will not get into, but I will have more time for robots now… Having hobbies is a good thing.

I could also use a hug.

Aggressive? Nah, just aggressively friendly, amirite?

Pulled off an issue-free print at work, and still found improvements to make. (We’re engineers. Good luck stopping us from improving things.)

Mostly recovered from a head cold I picked up earlier in the week.

Finally re-patched the ceiling in our hallway bathroom. Still need to go back and scrape all the popcorn off and then we’ll sand it down flush and repaint. Regardless this still looks tens of times better than it did before.

Pet Tax, both babies, Iggy (void) and Tippi (tabby) in their same cubby-hole, but napping this time!

Absolutely ludicrous… I’d laugh anyone calling my Iggy ‘aggressive’ out the room she’s such a playful, social sweet-pea.

And aggressively derpy (the heating pad he’s sleeping on isn’t even on)

Don’t worry, it’s not gone. I’ve got it now. Mostly in the throat, and I’m supposed to sing in church tomorrow.

For the win, my daughter and son-in-law visited last weekend and we played a couple card games they picked up at GenCon.

Went on a field trip to the DIA for Spanish class, which combined with the first Senior Skip Day effectively meant none of my classes did anything.

Also, turns out Kamala Harris was speaking in Detroit at the same time, so we got back to school 10 minutes before it ended.

Also, got my applications in for 3 schools now!

Finished my first script for my screenwriting class and my professor really seemed to like it so I’m happy. Got another new personal best in lethal company with my friend group, and headed home for the weekend for my highschools homecoming football game (haha).

Of course with heading home I get to see my adorable cats. I swear my cats get softer every time I come home (or I am just going insane)

We hve a couple of really keen grade 9s that want to help in almost any way possible! They’re a little hyper but I think they’ve calmed down enough that they can start helping in a big way. Also, we get to keep our robot from this year! We did strip it of all the brushless motors and replaced them with CIM motors, but otherwise it’s a robot kept!

We were the winning alliance captain at the inaugural Clash in the Corn off-season competition. Thanks to 6319 “ICE”, West Des Moines Schools, and John Deere for a fantastic event.

I got to learn Score Keeper and my daughter was Lead Queuer. Also I s-cked mightily during the mentor match, which is a bit embarrassing as I spend a lot of time mentoring the drive team. :man_shrugging:t3:

Also had some daddy/daughter time in the glassblowing studio.

I was officially co-elected as Team Captain this week alongside someone I’ve been doing FIRST with since 7th Grade.

We’re also holding some open shop events and are getting people interested in joining which is good.
