Any good wins this week? Launch a new product? Win an off season? Wake up on time once?
Made some good progress at work, figured out a plan to get us ready for user testing shortly while still allowing us to work on pieces that need work.
Edit: Also forgot to celebrate that for the first time in nearly 30 years we have a narrative game from the Clan perspective in the Battletech Universe and it’s actually been a lot of fun to play. Seeing some of the pivotal events from the lore realized in full animation has been cool.
Due to some communication issues my school submitted my National Merit Finalist application late which was stressing me out. But a few days ago we got a letter informing us that they pushed the due date back to the 31st since they did not receive my application which was a massive relief.
Got the proofs of our wedding photos back. It took us an hour and a half to go through them slideshow style so lots to pick from. Can’t wait to get the video soon too.
Got a new litter box with a grate for our rabbit. This is the 4th litter box we have tried (over a couple years) and think we have a winner for keeping things cleaner. With one she would push all the litter out on the floor because it was too tall. Another one would cause it to stick to her butt. The last was so low the litter ended up all over the place and I ended up cleaning it up all the time. Hopefully now this means less trips to the vet for a ‘Butt Shave’ and less maintenance for me.
It’s October which means watching lots of horror movies so for wins on that front I watched a few movies this week I hadn’t seen before and I was not disappointed with either of them.
Barbarian - was a surprise in lots of ways, especially given its supposed to take place in the Birghtmoor neighborhood of Detroit which is not far from where I am. Definitely some good nightmare fuel.
Malignant - Another good one by James Wan with a cool semi-realistic explanation for the horrible thing that happens. I like when it’s not just a demon/monster with no explanation for how it came to be.
I finally got a job interview and got both FTC and FRC sorted out.- two absolutely big wins this week, and I’m absolutely thrilled about it! Senior year is looking up
Oh! And I had my soccer senior night this week- as sad as I am about it being over, I finally got a goal this season which I’m still absolutely estatic about!
First off, after 3 years, I finally reached twitch affiliate! This means I can now make (a minimal amount) money off of streaming!
Second, my birthday day was on Wednesday , so now I am legally old enough to use Bluetooth devices while driving. Also went home to celebrate with some Texas Roadhouse, and a great cheesecake made by my mom. This also of course means I saw my kitties so mandatory cat photos
Today, my Uncle, Aunt, and Cousins came down from Wisconsin to celebrate with me, so they took me out for lunch and dinner, explored Chicago for a bit, and then ended off the night by going to see a Blue Man Group show!
The Blue Man group was so much fun, and I even got chosen for one of the interactive events! Would totally recommend for anyone who wants a good time
Overall a super fun week and got a ton done homework wise as well
Starting this week, I enter the phase of the offseason where I become a legal resident of the Statbotics Hypothetical events tab. I’d consider that a win.
In other news, one of our mentors got to meet my dog yesterday which was fun.
I live in Salem, Massachusetts (yes, the one with the witch trials. Yes, I have two black cats. No, it’s just a coincidence). After Halloween I’ll be able to walk to the grocery store without swimming through a throng of tourists
Got a few WPILib bug fixes done this week, which is nice. Still gotta finish the docs for the new LED API… hopefully that can happen this weekend
Woof. A great week for our team and local organizations.
In celebration of its tenth season Jumpstart is returning to SCSU for 2024.
Jumpstart Training is also heading to Fargo under the guidance of Fargo STEM alliance in December.
Our corporate sponsor Medtronic is continuing the growth of Jumpstart Training in Denver and Boston and now looking beyond 2024 to places such as Phoenix and even south of the Equator (1156 looking at you to aid in this).
Our Coding for Cookies is taking shape as the state wide Girl Scouts organizations are adopting this initiative. Now local FTC and FRC teams can work with the Girl Scouts to offer robotics and programming badges to their local scouts.
Our FTC league play that we started back in 2015 has grown beyond our dreams. Tonight we had 21 FTC teams in our new STEM area for a scrimmage.
Held a retirement party for Windshear (2024 bot) after Bloomfield Girls Comp, it’s 6th and final competition. Had speeches, gave it “new” show bumpers, and all the heartwarming things. We had already removed a net to keep notes out of the elevator during BGRC, so now all that’s left is signing it.
Got our back trailer light hooked up as well, after delaying from last year because it got really cold, but it works now, only blew one fuse when wiring it!
