Porting over Pairwise from a flat file structure mess of html files (with script, html, and the css within the same files) into something more… manageable… that’s a win for sure. Still in the process of getting all the framework together, but should be a much needed improvement. It’s presently just a bunch of placeholders, but the drag and drop tier-maker and rank reconstruction from the match mini tiers will be back soon I hope.
Had an insanely productive Tuesday - however it made the rest of the week pale by comparison.
Made some really good soup yesterday. That’s a win.
Applied for a climate related job out in Seattle, just happy to get another app out.
Also my cat tolerated me holding him and dancing around the apartment to swing music for about 20 seconds, that may be a record.
I drove Jenny the 14 year old shopping cart around at our last football game of the year (I spent lunch yesterday putting a modern frc control system in it instead of a 2004 operator’s console and robot controller)
My household was struck by the Cat Distribution System Saturday night.
Meet Gizmo. He is an ~6mo old Lynx Point Siamese that my GF and I found just up the road and around the corner from our house. Sweet boy came right up to my GF, who managed to pick him up and walk him to the house after a short period of petting, while I rushed home in the car, put our 2 existing cats up, and got a cat carrier to meet her just outside the house. Poor guy was full of worms, covered in fleas, hadn’t been neutered, and while super friendly definitely somewhat feral.
After finding no microchip with my Flipper Zero and finding nothing online on FB Lost Pet pages, PawBoost, etc. (and giving him a capstar to kill the fleas) we kept him happy and fed until we could bring him to a vet Monday where they confirmed his lack of chip and we got him Poked, Snipped, and Chipped, all in one go. He was… not amused afterwards…
But he’s adjusting now, and we’re continuing the introduction process to get him familiar with our other cats. Including let him roam various areas of the house for short periods without the other two present. When we let him in the bedroom he spent a not insignificant portion of time snuggling with me.
Wow replaced the cable from the pole to my house hopefully fixing the issue of my modem going offline 3 times a month. The tech said squirrels had possibly bitten into the cable and it was 5 years old so time to replace it.
No one was on our street for Halloween so we stayed in to watch movies. I got to wear my costume to work and get some odd stares from coworkers. Our office manager/HR went all out with face makeup, wig and false contacts so she got more stares then me.
My Halloween costume (Sully one piece fuzzy suit) was really comfortable and warm. I’ll probably keep them to wear as pajamas. Today is my friend’s Halloween party so I’ll get to break it out again tonight. The wife has a Stitch head hooded poncho so our couple theme is Blue Disney Monsters.
The pokemon trading card game app came out and I’m hooked. If anyone feels like adding me on there to duel against my friend id is 7579290166964793 . From a YPP standpoint I think mentors/coaches could add their students on there as there is no way to send private messages, emotes or interact afaik beyond playing a duel or liking a showcase item. Nintendo online social features are usually safe and locked down to an absolute minimum. Might be a good time killer during match delays/lunch breaks this season?
All in all not a bad week or start to the weekend.
Also, the design of the mold and material flow gets important.
I do this sort of thing regularly for work (rubber being one of the relatively few things that wet concrete is easy to clean off of). It’s fun, but I tend to find myself thinking hard about mold lines, where to break it and how (it does get easier if you include screwdriver points, BTW), and other similar things.
One tip I’ll add: sand the mold smooth, then spray it with acetone, and repeat a few times before you even think of adding mold release.
