Oof what a week. Filling in for @Andrew_Schreiber here as it gets later in the day and I crave a weekly wins thread. Hopefully not a problem.
Feels like the end of the year is getting closer, but will never actually get here.
For me time seems to have ground to a hault with the threat of a head cold, hopefully you all are skipping the end of year sickness.
A win despite the looming sick day:
I made some more progress (substantially so) on my scouting analysis tool. Domain and everything. I will put together an official launch thread, but I feel well enough about its state to let a sneak peak before we go more live. (excuse my html skills lol, limited at best)
regular session school is finally over… however that DOES mean i have finals next week. i don’t think that second parts a win, but ask me in a couple weeks
on another note, i’ve taken like 70 pictures of the sky in the last 2 weeks. idk what’s been going on but absolutely gorgeous scenery recently over here in Cali. i’ll include some of my personal faves
Got positive news in the ongoing saga that is the machine shop at my school. We’re still locked out, but we’ve got the go-ahead to move the Axiom CNC router, that’s never been plugged in, into a copy room that has a 240v outlet. Hopefully this happens early next week and we can start using the router before year-end… and kick-off.
No worries man, I was teaching a class, was just coming here to do it lol. I’m glad people enjoy this thread.
My win was teaching a class on FDM printing tricks in Onshape, it was mostly fun aside from some technical and social issues. Technical - I accidentally muted any questions Social - drive by jerks presenting wildly inappropriate things.
had a robotics christmas party and it was very fun, we also volunteered with our local church to deliver food and towels to those in need. a few of the people on robotics went out after and i swept them at bowling
I survived finals week (managed to keep my sanity by playing a lot of Mark Rober in the background) and I did surprisingly well! Except for in my English final but I gave up hope in ever being good at English a long time ago .
Hoping to get a hold of my grandpa’s old scroll saw model plans and start to remake some of his old woodworking and craft projects. Feels like a connection to him when I work with his old tools or look at stuff he made. This feels like another way to connect back to him. However I plan to redo them all in Fusion 360 so I can practice cutting them on the CNC or redesign for 3d print. He had racks and racks of those plans.
(lots of laugher, pretty sure proto nights are design team’s favorites)
Also, I and a few other experienced Iowa mentors had a hopefully helpful session with the mentor getting the 2nd Nebraska FRC team off he ground. Really looking forward to seeing the team from Emerson (pop 840!) in person at the Iowa Regional!
