It’s Winsday all. There’s got to be some cool stuff that happened to people this week.
My win - is related to work, buttoned up a few more long running tasks and got some excellent feedback including help aligning my work to career goals. I also keep being reminded of just how awesome my manager is.
The first semester of school is over and i can finally relax for a few weeks and enjoy the holiday’s with friends and family. Its not often i get time to just decompress and try to have some fun nowadays. Im looking forward to build season as always but its always good to just chill out before the chaos commences.
Another win is seeing 3512’s OA plans come into reality for 2023. My friend Adan and I have been really looking forward to being apart of OA for the 23’ season alongside Kremer and a few others. We are hoping and praying to be a featured team cause there are so many things we would love to do for the next season.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year. Please enjoy your time.
Stuff moving at work, including a customer liking what they saw for progress, that’s a win.
Making it up to the train club with my dad, and running–hey, it’s a small win. Now let’s see about tomorrow’s bike ride…gonna be a “cold” one (look, I’m in SoCal–50 F is cold by our standards, and that’s about ride start temp).
First semester of school is also finished! Finally get some down time before the Kickoff and build season craze comes upon me in January. I have some friends and family visiting from out of town, so that will be fun to catch up and spend time with them.
A huge W would be getting teleop control working on our 2019 elevator, with progress on closed loop.
I’ve never had real experience working with elevators until now, so I’ve learned a lot working on this project.
Another win is getting a vision camera connected to our 2023 swerve chassis for AprilTag/pose estimation. I’m excited to work on it. This will likely result in a long post in our OA 2023 build thread sometime this month.
Anyways, have a great holiday season everyone. Rest up!
Mine is kinda neutral. I got into a car accident last week (nobody was hurt thankfully) and I was definitely at fault. The good part is that I got a significant year end bonus from work so that is gonna cover a majority of the damages. Most likely won’t have to dig on o my emergency fund.
Got our test fit (about) finished this week. Plan to send out the aluminum parts for anodizing with the rest of the 2023 robot parts. Having a proper robot cart is long overdue for us. Thanks to FRC 3847 for posting their design which inspired this one.
After like 5 years of wanting one I finally broke down and bought a Nixie clock (kit, of course), and all finals are complete! Now to start of the 12 page report I forgot about…
We had our 2nd league meet of the season with a remarkable amount of improvement over event 1. All 4 of our teams are now up and able to score on the various junctions and we’re starting to see some really good matches.
I returned home on Thursday Now I don’t have to sit in traffic anymore, I zoom by it on the bus. I don’t know how people sit in traffic every day of their lives. I did it for two weeks in the Seattle area and oh my god it’s so miserable. I just do not understand how people can be ok with doing that every day. Trains and bus lanes for the win!
I went to see a friend who was in town from Germany on my first day back which was a lot of fun.
The ten mile trip involved no frustrations, which was a nice change. Same for the 8 mile trip home.
I also bought Minecraft for the switch this week, So that’s been kinda fun
And it’s really nice to see my two cats.
The biggest train in town - sitting at Söğütlüçeşme Station - These trains are epic. 10 cars, 10 doors per car, continuously articulated trains that carry thousands of people on a single train. (somewhere in the range of 3000-4000) This station is also where the busway ends (left lower edge), thus there are toooonnnssss of people transferring here.
View from the bus of how bad traffic that I don’t have to sit in is. There’s a metro under the visible traffic, and the bus I’m on on a different highway has its own barrier separated lanes It doesn’t slow down for anything, and averages 38kph, with stops.
