So our solenoids have started to behave very strangely… they do not flip at all. We have tried with 3 different ones and still have the same problem. The strange thing about it is The LEDs on both the PCM and the solenoid are changing just as we programmed them to. All hoses are tested and have 60psi on the inlet and there is air coming out of one side no matter what. The jumper is set it 12v on the PCM. Any ideas?
Have you tried to manually switch the solenoid and have checked to make sure they are not “locked” into a position with the button (set screw) and that they are wired correctly to the PCM? If you use a small screwdriver and press the tiny blue button straight in (don’t turn it), it should trigger the solenoid to switch ports. Also the slot of the button should be orientated along the length of the solenoid. If you press in and turn the button, that is when you lock the solenoid to a single port, which sounds like you could have.
Which solenoid valves are you using? Are you sure the jumper should be set to 12V and not 24V?
^^ What Josh said.
Also, how much pressure do you have feeding into the solenoid valves*? Most solenoid valves used in FRC are actually piloted by air - the solenoid opens a very small valve which lets enough air through to push the main valve. Typical piloting requirements are 30psi-40psi, though I’m sure there are those which are higher or lower. If the air pressure is too low, the lights will come on but the valves won’t switch.
* You say you “tested to 60psi”, do you currently have 60 psi?
Got it thanks! The jumper had to be set at 24 v
