What benefits and drawbacks do the RIO2 have over the regular RIO?

we are considering to buy a new roboRIO and we do not know if we should buy the cheaper roboRIO 1 or the new roboRIO 2

Bottom line, the roboRIO 2 has more computing power but an extra failure point. Original roboRIOs aren’t being sold new anymore, so your options are a new v2 or a used v1. Up to you to decide which you’d prefer
