Hi hadinassar,

Congratulations on your nomination!

I recommend looking at past threads involving Dean’s List interviews. Here are a few:

A few tips:
-Make sure you have read your nomination essay and are ready to answer any questions related to the content of the essay.
-Judges may ask you personal questions about your involvement with your team and FIRST at large.
-They may ask questions about how FIRST has impacted you and your future plans.
-The judges just want to get to know you better. They will be very excited to talk to you!
-Be yourself.
-Five minutes goes fast, so be sure to keep your answers honest and thorough, but concise.

Thank u so much!! I was lost without knowing what to do! Helped a lot!

Congrats and good luck! They will probably ask questions based off what was in the essay about you. But some basic stuff would be; what do you do on your team? What are you most proud of? What are your plans for after graduation?
They want to know about you and your interactions with FIRST. Just be you, that is the best thing you can do.

Good luck!

They will ask personal questions about you, how you are a leader on your team, future plans, and topics relating to your essay. Just be calm, be yourself, and be personable. The biggest thing is that this “interview” is more of a conversation. Knock it out of the park!

They’ll usually ask about your involvement and how FIRST has impacted you. They may also ask how you plan to stick with FIRST after graduation.

Good luck in your interview!

There are lots of great sample questions out there on the previously linked pages.

Here are some of my favorites:

  • What does Gracious Professionalism mean to you?
  • How do you show leadership on (and off) your team?
  • When did you start FIRST? What caused you to join?
  • Do you have any interaction with other FIRST programs (FLL, FLL Jr., FTC)?
  • What is your favorite part of FIRST?
  • If you could change one thing about FIRST, what would it be?
  • Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
  • What’s your niche in FIRST, or, what is unique about your role?

Essentially, be able to articulate your role on your team and in the greater community. Know what you have learned and what you will continue to learn. Keep in mind there are no wrong answers to these questions. Be authentic to who you are don’t forget to have a good time in the judging room. I know this might sound corny but if you’re having fun, chances are, the judges are having fun too and this will make for a great interview.
