What did everyone think of the Conn. Regional?

I thought that the competion in Conn. was great. I was really impressed with the robots that I saw there. I was really impressed with Team #157's drive system. They got on the puck quickly and with power. They were the only team that I saw that was able to push people off of the puck. I was also impressed with team number 230. They were seeded number three and they were only a rookie team. What did everyone eles think?

Just a note to say that in a late practice round Thursday our robot pushed team 157 off the puck with ease. We kept them off until we decided to get off the puck and go about picking up floppies on the field for practice. We did like team 157 though, even after they knocked us out of #1 seed position after holding that spot until late Saturday morning. (Congrats to team 157 for your awards) We teamed up with them and had to play a rematch round. The result was 1 floppy away from a perfect score.
We are a little perplexed by the fact that we did so well in the qualifying rounds and walked away from the competition with no awards. (boo hoo)
But of course the real reward was just being there and enjoying the celebration by running our robot on the field with our allies and competing. I think FIRST has done a great job this year making the competition more than just being about winning.

Viva la FIRST!

Tom just a note. I have been a member of team 157 for the past three
years now and know that the coaches and drivers do not like to have a
lot of contact in the practice rounds. The practice rounds are not for
competition but to make sure nothing happend during shipping and to
practice driving. You guys where great as an alliance and great as an all
together team. We enjoyed the close race for the number one seed position
and hope to have the same great time with your team as we did in CT.

Thank you!! FIRST should mention this before practice rounds. Something along the lines of “do not intentionally interact with other teams unless they agree to.”
I can think of several times when we just want to try out some stuff and some team just keeps pushing us. I’d also like to see some teams get off the puck during practice, I can remember a practice round where there were 2 robots just hanging out on the puck, maybe teams should sign up for puck time or something (2.5 minutes per team per practice round).
Ok, nuff of my whining. :-Dan

We did get carried away on the puck. I think when the announcer started cheering us on when the battle ensued, it egged us on to continue. You guys did respond though by trying to climb back on. We thought you were cool with it. If we offended your team I appologize sincerely. I will say that the matches we had with you were very memorable and fun. I wish you the best of luck in EPCOT.

First of all, congrats to all the teams that played in the Hartford regional. You all did a great job, and we enjoyed the competition. This was my first year and it was lots of fun. We just shipped today and hope to see you all in Florida.
