What Did YOU Give Up To Make Your Build Season Meeting!?

My good friend Kayla just asked if I wanted to go to Florida for the weekend because they have room for one more! Now keep in mind I live in SNOWY and COOOOOLD New Hampshire… but I had to give all that up, because the magic STARTS SATURDAY! In my opinion its well worth it!

What did YOU Give up to make the First Build Season Meeting!?!?

I didn’t give it up.

But I did drop my chemistry class, since it conflicted with the meetings on 1293.

I schedule everything around robotics ahead of time so I won’t have to give anything up. I suppose I might have to work a little less than I want in order to make all the build season meetings. But I still get to work, nonetheless.

I gave up track, tennis, and my school trip to Inauguration… C’est la vie, though… FIRST is well worth the sacrifices

For Robotics in general, i have definitely given up a lot. I have given up 2/3 school sports; Baseball/Lacrosse and Soccer, 2 jobs; Subway and Shop Rite, and countless days/nites that i could have gone out with friends.

And a 3 week German Exchange program in Germany, so i could go to WPI over the summer this year(well this will eventually happen).

i was supposed to get shots, not really a sacrafice

Hmm … I gave up a trip to Germany, with my dad, to go to IRI in 2003. And, of course, sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.

the question shouldn’t be “what did you give up?”-

it should be "what did you give? "

WC

I don’t give things up ;). I brush them away if they get in the way of robotics. My band teacher doesn’t like this. But…it happens.

I have Model UN tomorrow, but I can’t give it up :frowning: So, I shall run to robotics, stay for a while, then off to Model UN! Gosh don’t you just love conflicting schedules?! -.-

Blah, I’m giving up going to the American Historical Association Confrence, but FIRST is more important

I gave up…

…getting good paychecks.

I gave up work at Farmers Insurance until robotics ends :ahh: :yikes: and I gave up doing Softball for the school this spring too

mmmm i gave up sleep and study time. Since i work full time and student full time sleep time and study time is the only time i have and well that will be sacrificed, but i wont be as involved as i used to be this year, just because of work.

I have given up somethings for this build season. One of the things that I have given up for this build season is seeing my family. I am very busy with sports and wildstang so the only time I get to see my family is when I am saying goodnight to them. I also gave up a lot of sleeping time… I can imagine that a lot of you have lost a lot of sleep too! I have come to school and have fallen asleep in a few classes but that is ok… I have also given up eatting something other than junk food… It is hard for me because I go from my sport to wildstang with not a lot of eatting… I usually eat a little later in the night… You know 9 or 9:30… I dont really care tho if I have to give this stuff up tho, because I love first and I love meeting new people

sorry about missing the trip to florida… we’ve been having beautiful weather down here for it being JANUARY… it feels like spring! anyways…

i gave up going to not one, but TWO of my best friends’ Sweet 16 Birthday parties… one was in Texas and she was even going to pay for my ticket and everything, and the other one was a camping trip. i was also really sick and almost missed kickoff… but thankfully i got somewhat better and was able to referee at the FLL Florida State Tournament on the same day! … i missed most of the kickoff but i caught the *important part * at lunch  i was so excited, i could hardly concentrate on reffing for the rest of the day!

i eat, sleep, and breathe robotics 24/7. i haven’t “sold my soul” to it… i think “dedicated my life” is more accurate. FIRST has been the most positive and wonderful influence in my life on so many levels its almost indiscribable; nothing can compare to how awesome it is. i wouldnt trade being in robotics for the world. my life completely revolves around FIRST robotics and i wouldnt have it any other way.

i did give up going to d.c for the president’s inauguration w/ group pc
all well it’s all good–robotics just comes first for me on many things besides school lol otherwise nothing else to give up except sleep and finishing a class up earlier

I gave up my life

But it’s worth it.

Let’s see… I gave up a ballet class… waaayy too much sleep, my sanity, AP biology homework, my ability to get a decent amount of sleep…

it will be interesting to see if I’m alive at the end of the 6 weeeks.

I gave um my sleeping time…every day it from 3 (after school) till 8 at night…so if ytou count the starting of school till the end is 8-8…12 hours of non stop work :yikes:
