What do the local Regional teams do?

I have a question for all the teams that at home for a regional.

Do you sleep in your own house and meet at the regional/school?
Stay over one’s house and “party/have fun” then off to the regional/school?
stay in a hotel to get in the game?
and lastly how do you support your local regional?

Hey yeah i am from team 272 from the Philadelhpia Area. Usually at our “home” regional we jsut go home everynight and commute back the next day. However sicne we area Catholic HS and this year the Philadelphia Regional is on Easter Struday we cannot patrticaipte because our school presdient wont allow it. I believe we are going to be acting as volunteers and helping out as much as we can.

For the UTC regional, we stay at home, meet at school every morning, then take a bus to the event.

Cheap, and you get to sleep in your own bed.

you guys going to another regional then?

Pit Bull 1126…im from team 272 also, and yea we’re gonna be attending the New Jersey Regional this year as our sole regional, and also we will be in attendance in Atlanta for Nationals this year

and yea, as waffles said were gonna be volunteering time and whatnot at the Drexel Regional this year…

It depends like for Detroit we stay at home or some people may sleep over at at another team members house. Then we meet at school. But for Grand Rapids where staying since it’s to far to come back and fourth everyday.

This year, 461 will be hosting the Boilermaker Regional, so it’s a new experience for us. Here’s what I speculate (I’m not totally sure right now) will happen: I think we’re gonna be going straight to the event sans buses. Our school is within 2 minutes of the Purdue University Armory building, so it’s just illogical to work with buses. Also, many of our mentors are campus residents, so it’s easier for them to get to the building by walking. 461 will be participating in the regional, but we also have our Regional committee (College kids & some faculty and other team reps) that organizes stuff, so they may have something for us to do. Rest is really important, so I’m thankful I’ll get to sleep in my bed and relax.

The sweeping majority of 1293 will be driving in their individual cars to Palmetto.

Others, such as a certain college student…

For UTC i stay at a friends house (although my teams home base is close to the regional site, i live about an hour from it)

now that you mention it a team party wouldn’t be bad to increase team unity

to help out with the regional i am part of the student advisory board where 2 students from every UTC team can meet work at UTC so we can organize the team social and all the other things to keep the day running smoothly and to make sure teams have fun and keep coming back.

for RAGE, meeting at school is a tad bit difficult, since we have 5 schools, so we tend to meet at our facility(in East Hartford) if you need a ride and just go and meet us there if you can drive yourself. Technically East Hartford kids can’t drive themselves, so they must got to the facility, and on Thursday we all meet at the facility because we have a lot of “stuff” (spare parts, tools, etc) that we have to take over. And yes we sleep at home, unless we have a parent who will let us all sleep over her house at night, and i think that only happened after the regional last year.

For our “home” regional (West Michigan Regional) we sleep at our own house and meet at our main sponsers place. Then a charter bus picks us up and we go to Grand Rapids. Our main sponser is one of the main sponsers of the West Michigan Regional as well.

Holland and Holland Christian and Zeeland do the same as our team since we are all crowded within a 10-20 mile distance between us. Not even that for my school and the other 2 Holland Schools…

We go home every day then come back the next day for midwest regional we we live like 20 minutes away.

RAGE sleeps at home, like Lisa said, but we have tried in the past with some limited success to sponsor a dinner or get-together for other teams at our facility on Thursday night of the UTC Regional. We are only about 5minutes from the venue.

We are hosting a tailgating party again this year. More info about that will be posted in the UTC Regional thread. And we hope to put together a guide to the region.

Team 007 is planning on meeting at our school and carpooling each day of the Chesapeake regional.

MOE stays at home or other students houses for drexel becuase we are about an hour away at the very most. For Pittsburg we are doing a carpool and staying at a hotel, and i think for Nats this year we are taking a bus.

Our school is about 45 minutes driving time away from the LA regional in traffic. For Thursday and Friday, we meet at school early in the morning and take a regular school bus with all of our stuff. Then each evening we return to school late where the parents come pick up the students and they go home. On Saturday, everyone is responsible for their own transportation to the event.
