What do you do on your team?

Just interested to see how diverse the people on delphi really are… is it mostly programmers who are here? Mostly endeffectors? drivetrain?

I think it’s mostly computers and webmaster on Chief Delphi but the mechanical designers come to see what other teams are doing.

you may want to add video to the list. many teams have dedicated video people like mine. I am the video team leader for my team and i also help out with electrical and some prototyping. alot of people assume that since I am a video person i kno2 nothing about actually building robots:(

im not a programmer im new to the team. As a team we talk about strategy engineering fund raising and communication :frowning:

On our team, everyone sort of helps with everything since we’re (relatively) small and not everyone comes to all the meetings. People are starting to specialize more this year, though.

Personally, I deal with the overall strategy and the awards essays, but the strategy makes me want to have a hand in the design and building, as well. So I guess I deal with a little bit of almost everything.

I’m head of the devices team and also in charge of overall strategy. I’m also the coach at the competitions.

uuh, well im a rookie so i dont know what an endefficator is

I’m not a rookie and I don’t know what that means.

That being said…

I’m on the Chassis Design/Build team, the Pneumatics build team, and going to be the 675 webmaster soon.

Quite a bit for a second-year member, methinks.

I might even offer to be a Human Player, too.

Safety Captain in da’ house!

I love being a safey captain but I also stretch into mechanical stuff (when I’m in the mood  )

How many other safety captains are there following chief delphi?

I’m a programmer and I wish i was a safety captain because last year i was yelling at people left and right about safety glasses that includes mentors, team members, visitors, and etc.

So…what was that about CD being just programmers? I think that most people are either a mix of everything or just fall under the catagory of “other” because their division is not on the poll. I for one really classify as “field builder.” I build the mock field every year. And I’m drive train too (I guess).

an endefficator is the device that actually interfaces with the gamer piece. for example a claw or a grabber of some sort.

again more proof that as a video guy i still know a lot about robots :yikes: ( see first post)

lol wow that was really lame and funny lol

So another name for endefficator is “maker of the robot’s arm?” Why not just make it that simple for us vocab challenged people.

This year I am one of the electrical teams co-leads. I also know some stuff on mechanical and drives and help them out every once in awhile.

EVERYTHING I POSSIBLY CAN!!!

And if I don’t know how, I’ll learn!

We are a small, student ran and operated team. We only have two “teacher sponsors”, who aren’t engineers or anything, just a Physics and a Biology teacher, interested in FIRST and robotics in general. Over the years we’ve had engineer mentors from places such as Lockheed and Drexel U, but general the robot is 95% designed and built by us.

I am the head “engineer”, I guess you could say. I design pretty much the whole bot in CAD (after an extensive team input of design and strategy), then I’ll start making parts myself and have some other people do it too. This year I took on the chassis and half the manipulator, so it’s my responsibility to make sure those are modeled, parts are ordered, and the thing gets built properly. My “partners” will be helping be, as well as building other parts of the robot.

Also when all of my building is done, I will be doing the robot electronics with another person.

And when the whole thing is done, I’m the head driver.

Mentor, with an electrical, mechanical, and pnuematics background. I will move around and help out where needed. I don’t know/do programming though.

I’ve always been a mentor. Team 237 didn’t exist until after I graduated.

Hi, Im new to the forum. My team is 1926 from Chinle AZ. We have a small team so I do alot. Im in charge of designing the whole robot (except for the arm) on paper! Im also in charge of the strategy and odds and ends.

I don’t design, but I help out with Spirit & misc tasks that are mundane to the engineering elite. From helping spirit to keep the everything on track, to planning & provide physical labor for our unique Scrimmage at the end of the 6-week build time. I thrive on what others think is fodder. This year is no exception for Aces High #176 in planning the annual Scrimmage to “test” robots & fields alike. We want to make this years’ scrimmage better than ever!
