Well, what does it mean?
i’m quite certian that it is a rendition of a cartoon heart
or it could mean “less than 3”
It’s generally ment as a crude way for a heart. Over in my neck of the woods - “ska or punk” kids normally wear them…
I totally thought this was a philosophical question about what our definition of love is. Could it be that my 'un-techniness" automatically assumed he wasn’t just asking about the symbol or is the heat just impairing my mental capacity?
Hey the topic could to that way
I less than three ____. I might say that sometime, and people will look at me like I’m a dork… again.
<3 is so much less serious than “love.”
and it looks really cute
Just a little heart, when you’re too lazy to type “love”
Or, in numerous LJs, <3 is the equivalent to “I love you, [insert name of LJ owner here]!”

I’m so with her. I was assuming this was a thread about what the definition of love really was… and I was like, ‘OOOH!’
Us non-techies live for that sort of thing.
or when someone wants to say “i heart you” they say “i <3 you”
hahaha
Well, <3 didn’t turn up on a google search. So, being my geeky and mathmatically oriented self, I just had to look up “less than three”. I got a few things on colleges, baseball, stock reports, vacations, employment opportunities, and a weird picture on the moon.
I think I’m just afraid what a Google search on “love” would bring back…
no no…its ‘less than 3’
People sometimes get annoyed when you say that to them, but its funny. It does mean ‘love’ to some people.
Lol Kristy, youre the only person I know that would think that
I generally use <3 not to mean like I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but more of a you are really awesome type of thing.

…or is our “techiness” corrupting a deep, philosophical discusion?

So … rather than it meaning “I love you” … does it really mean, “I less than three you.”???![]()
:yikes:
My boyfriend did that to me… I text messaged him “I <3 you” and he returned… “aww, I less than three you too.”
I cracked up so much, and it was an inside joke of ours. But now I understand that it’s not too uncommon. (erin shrugs and lowers head in disappointment)
now it’s “I < x u (x = integer sqrt4 < x < 4)”

I beg to differ. I <3 many of my friends, I love them to death.
well, being that the bases of this thread has been ans. now the philosophical q. of it begins…
yesyes, it can mean, i love you, i heart you, ur cool, love ya, i’m out, etc.
but i prefer i heart you, that’s so funny, how do you heart someone, that’s the coolest
or you write it at the end of a letter
“<3”
heart, name
haha
but less than 3 is so sufficient, i may get to like that more, but ‘i heart you’ man, that’s the shiznit rite there:p
