What FIRST needs - Some RSS

Okay I have no idea where this post should go but I know teams are busy so I didn’t want to clutter up the general forum with it. It just occurred to me though that with the redesign of the FIRST web-site FIRST should have RSS’ifed a few of the sections. Particularly the Manual and Updates sections. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a system where you can subscribe to different feeds and those feeds will get updated and most readers will alert you when there are changes. This would be a really simple way for teams to monitor updates in the manual or new published team updates. Don’t know if teams would use this or if I have just become so hooked on using RSS for monitoring the news.

Good luck to all in '07,

Justin

I agree with you. I don’t think it’s just FIRST Robotics which could stand to take advantage of RSS, either. Certainly the FIRST Lego League could really stand to benefit from it, too. A large portion of the news and entertainment I get every day is delivered to me through RSS (including, of course, the Chief Delphi threads) so, I too have become accustomed to having it. As someone who at this point doesn’t really have any direct connection to FIRST Robotics, most of the information I get about it comes from RSS feeds. I hadn’t seen this year’s game until it downloaded through the FIRSTcast feed.

Oh, and another thing, with RSS feeds there’s always the RSS to e-mail bridges to give people updates that way if they’d prefer.
