Why are they so expensive? Do they really cost ~$200 to make? Or is it just shipping that makes it so much?
That’s kind of like asking why is popcorn so expensive at the movie theater. Or maybe more appropriately why is official MLB licensed apparel for your favorite baseball team more expensive than some knock-off unauthorized product.
No it doesn’t cost about $200 to make, because if it did it would probably cost about $300-400 to buy. This is a For-Profit company so there will be a markup to make a profit.
All said, while probably a little high, I’m not sure it is too far out of whack from other items I’ve had done. Our recent team banner was around $180 for a 3x10 banner, with no shipping involved. While significantly larger I would imagine the material cost difference between the two is miniscule compared to the labor costs involved.
I heard some Mentors talking about a Red Finalist Banner. Is that a thing or urban myth?
Some banners from the very early days were in red, I’ve heard. Perhaps it was one of those?
They give red banners for FTC, no?
I believe those are orange.
Hmm, I suppose that is still in line with their color scheme. They give green for FLL yeah?
I would have to watch the Einstein stream again when hey gave the banner but green sounds right. I did a quick google search for fll green banner and nothing showed up so I’m not sure.
There are actually three kinds of blue banners awarded at each regional.
that post was from 2013, when they didnt give out WFA banners.
Still no EI banners tho…
I believe before the FIRST rebrand in 2016, the banners were yellow for FTC, but after the rebrand, the banners were orange
The FIRST LEGO League Champions award winner gets a orange/red banner at the championship (World Festival). This may have been the red banner you have seen.
