I am curious to how many team alumnis still keep in touch with their teams? Are they still as “excited and passionate about FIRST” after graduation? or have they forgetten about the program since they are no longer in the competition? Personally, I can not imagine going through college without my experience with FIRST. As a freshman in college, I am still very “excited” about my team in the competitions. I still keep in touch with the students and engineers. I can hardly wait to attend the Great Lakes Regional and feel the FIRST atmosphere again. I am interested in hearing from other Alumnis. Good Luck to all this year’s teams.
Everyone is a winner!!!

Team #177- International Fuel Cells/South Windsor High. We have a TON of alumnus, and most of us are still VERY into it. We were all home, and attened the brainstorming/design meetings. Many of our ideas were actually used on the robot. Our alumni are attending the regionals, and one is even flying to florida with the team.
Many of us have become such close friends, not only with each other, but also with the engineers that we feel as though we are always welcome. When we come back, we are still on the team, as though we never left. We have such a great network of people that we are able to communicate ideas, and know of our teams progress even though we are houndreds of miles away; at college. FIRST was the best experience of many of my life, and I know I will be a part of our team until the end.

Hey Myder,
I’ve been an alumn of my team longer than I was actually on the team. My senior year was the first year we joined FIRST.
Now it’s 3 years later, and I’m still showing up for team meetings.

I was on WildStang from its first year ('96) until last year. Now I’m
at MIT and volunteer on the team here. I can’t even begin to imagine
where my life would be without FIRST. What would January and
February be without endless design and build meetings? I got so much
out of FIRST in high school. I feel like I have so much to give now
and really enjoy seeing FIRST from the other side, helping the high
school students. I plan to stay involved with FIRST for the rest of
college and beyond. It certainly did it’s job in inspiring me in
technology and engineering and I hope it will do the same for all the
high school students we all work so hard to inspire.
See you all in Florida…this year MIT/CRLS will be the team in the
tie-dye

Well this is my 4th year on team 88, TJ², and it is my second as a alumnist. The year after I graduated from high school and moved on to college, I alway thought about the team and how much fun I had. I just couldn’t give it up. So as of right now I"m on my 4th and probably last year as an active member of team 88 but that doesn’t mean that I"ll forget about the team. I’ll always have a gleam in my eye when I read the newspaper and see an article about my team or about the FIRST competition, I"ll still go to the FIRST website and check the results to see if Team 88 did well. The memories I have with this team as a student and a alumnist will never leave me. This program, with help from my teachers, students, and especially our sponsor, Johnson and Johnson Professionals, has been the best thing ever to happen to my life and I"m just thankful for it.

Hi,
I am an alumni of Clinton High School and former member of the NYPRO/Clinton High team. I recieved the Daniel Webster College scholarship award and have started my first year at DWC. I wasn’t planning on being a part of the FIRST team, but like so many others, i could not get away. This year I am a coach and head of controls on the DWC/Alvirne team. I would say that even though I hate the idea of having to face my old team in a match, i have learned even more as an alumni in this competition.
Good Luck to all

Hi
My name is Dyan Perez and I used to be a student member in the
1997 GM Powertrain/Pontiac Northern (Huskie Brigade - team #65)
and last year was a volunteer on the team. These two years have
been a great experience for me. I believe it emphesizes to
students how fun learning can be and how working together
you can do anything.
I do continue to be in contact with members of the team, but not
as much as I used to since college has taken most of my time. As for
keeping in touch of what is happening and what’s new, I check this
website every week. This site is a great resource for all interested
in the FIRST competition.
Keep up the good work everyone!Great job Central/Delphi!!
Good Luck to All

I was wondering how many people that participated in FIRST in high school went to a college that had a team and was on it. My thoughts are that next year I’ll be acting as an ‘engineer’ at college. Is the transition from student to ‘engineer’ in just one year much different, or do you participate in the same way that you did as a student? I’m just not sure what it’s gonna be like next year with having college and all. I know that I’m still going to be doing FIRST stuff cuz I’m hooked for life, but right now I’m liking this whole participating as a student thing.
