What if a Regional FIRST Impact Award winner can't send a robot to Houston but can send students?

If a team were to be selected for the FIRST Impact Award at their regional competition, but for various reasons is not able to send their robot to Houston, could they send some students to Houston and still be considered for the FIRST Impact Award there… the same as if they’d brought their robot?

As unfortunate as it is, I’d guess you’d still be required to pay the championship event fee to do this. That would be your decision if interviewing for impact would be worth that. But I don’t know that officially.

I’d say this would be a question best handles by the regional committee, senior mentor, or Product Delivery Organization.

Many times there are some grants available for teams who qualify at their regional but are unable to afford registration.

If this is more a logistics issue then I’m unsure of the answer.

Whether or not they could win the award, sending students to Houston is a great idea! If you have the money, it is worth the cost
