they were alright i guess
I didn’t catch enough of OP, probably ranked them lower on FRCtop25 poll than I should have this week. Awe well, happens. #notapopularitycontest
FWIW I had 973 on top for reasons beyond raw scoring.
Would really appreciate if anyone who attended the event had videos they could upload. I really want to see 2056, 2200, 1305, 610, 5409, 7558, and 4476 in action.
We were watching the stream from our build space on Saturday, and we were all waiting expectantly to see what 2056 did.
Auto starts… they score the first game piece, drive out to get another one and score it, then go grab a 3rd game piece and go balance on the charge station with one or two seconds to spare.
I didn’t see every match, but The Blue Alliance says they averaged 2.88 game pieces in auto.
Can’t wait to see it in person.
This auto alone is 2 weeks ahead of what most teams in the same ballpark as OP are doing. Dang.
i will talk to my team about posting some match vids
If you have anything to send FUN would greatly appreciate it as we have practically no video to go off of for FRC Recaps.
Same for the other ONT event too
FIRST ONT needs to step it up with posting VODs quicker. Not sure what the hold-up is but other districts and events are uploading throughout the day, so I see no reason why they can’t. Just the wide-angle is fine, no need the action shots.
I have screen-recorded VODs of both the ONT District Newmarket finals. These are mp4 videos captured by OBS Studio, about 200 megs each.
I don’t have a youtube account and CD doesn’t seem to allow mp4 uploads. If anyone has a suggestion on the easiest way to upload here, let me know. @Tyler_Olds if you have a dropbox link or something similar I can send you the footage.
On the topic of the finals themselves - I don’t have data to back this up, but my gut says the finals matches don’t do 2056 full justice, because there was significant traffic/defense in both of them and a rare drop from 2056 in F2. That being said they’re still incredible matches. I will be very excited to review the other VODs when they become available to see what the max they could put up was when there weren’t multiple defenders.
Fantastic job as always, 2056.
It’s a different system. All regional and many districts are using the JK productions servers (which do cost quite a bit) to get these uploaded immediately.
I’ve spoken to many parties this week including at HQ and other districts. There’s a real concern for DCMA with the music being played at events and both District and FIRSTinspires streams have received strikes including this week. Some districts (like FiT) are streaming to YouTube where they don’t play and music and it’s really boring to watch
I’ll post this somewhere else and I’ve had these convos with the above stakeholders, but here’s the solution that is not too difficult to implement and we do this for FUN FRC & FTC streams that we don’t want to have the archives muted on:
The stream feed needs to have all audio except for music. Then districts need to purchase an allow listed service (which are pretty reasonably priced) and just have that music play continuously. Is it big DJ dance music or even synced to when matches start? No, but it’s some sort of filler audio and it’s way better than nothing. It also practically guarantees you that your stream will not be taken down and also that you can just utilize the videos right away to port to YT. It also helps prevent potential DCMA should any microphone pick up some house music as the stream music will be louder. I can practically guarantee this works as we have utilized it on dozens of streams.
The reason given in the Ontario slack channel was there were technical difficulties when setting things up this past weekend, so Ontario events resorted to recording the feeds locally. Volunteers/Staff are working to get footage uploaded “soon” (not sure exactly what the timeline of “soon” is, though I would hope that to mean sometime this week).
+1 It’s no fun if FUN doesn’t have videos to play. I’m loosing opportunity to enlarge my ego.
I’ve been complaining about this for years, and I’ve caught them a handful of times copyright striking teams who upload before them (usually when I try to find early videos of 2056/1114). Like, the video gets taken down copyright strike, and it’s not for music.
Absolutely unacceptable and childish behavior if the uploads are going to continue to be this slow.
I sent the raw footage to Tyler so he can make the amazing content we all love. But for those of you who are impatient I decided to give youtube a try. No bells or whistles, but here you go:
Final 1: 2023 ONT Newmarket F1 - YouTube
Final 2: 2023 ONT Newmarket F2 - YouTube
The taskbar and Activate Windows watermark come straight from the stream, sorry!

Tyler I can probably help get some video from Newmarket, matches are starting to be posted from Georgian College so hopefully Newmarket goes up after that: FIRST Ontario - YouTube
OP is incredible, basically was able to score twice as many game pieces as all the other top robots at Newmarket (2200, 7758, 610, 4946, 1305): https://www.statbotics.io/event/2023onnew
They are the best team in the world from week 1 from what I’ve seen from other videos. OP scores 2 cones in auto basically every time + picks up a third and balances, they have a champs ready auton ready for week 1… plus they are able to place game pieces faster then I’ve seen from anyone else they rarely pause to place at the rack.
I know FIRST Ontario volunteers are trying… unfortunately we are running into Youtube upload limits on the number of videos we can upload to FIRST Ontario channel. If anyone knows how to get past these limits (or works at Youtube / Google) DM me. No one is as thirsty for these videos to be on Youtube as we are.
All matches are up now about 24 hours after the event ended. 2023 ONT District Newmarket Complex Event - Full Field View - YouTube
Answer: OP Robotics is music streaming rights!
I split some non Canadian discussions to the other thread created to keep this more on track.
