What is the benefit of a hooded shooter?

So currently, my team has a shooter with no hood and two wheels, and I was curious, what benefit does a hooded shooter provide? What about one with two rollers?

If you search, you will find many discussions on this, but the basics are (1) ball is in contact with wheel for a longer distance, (2) it imparts backspin which stabilizes the shot, and (3) the option of a variable-length hood for better shooting at multiple distances.
