Just curious if we can estimate what percentage of students in FIRST are boys or girls. Ours: 17 boys to 8 girls (closest it’s ever been, on our team!)
Most member of our team are guys, although the girls have the important positions…
Our team, mathematically, is about 20% girls… we have 32 people on our team…
Our team this year is mainly boys, i think we have somewhere around 6 girls on the team…
we have 1 girl, yup count em 1 girl to the thirty two or so guys. Thats all right, we need at least one to keep us all in line, and keep things from getting lost.
We have one girl (and that would be me!) out of a team of 8
Our ratio is 1.57 girls to each boy.
its about…20 boys to 2 girls…not including mentors teachers and engineers
Ours is about half and half,
We a private all boy school, nuff said.
Our ratio: a bunch of guys to four girls. All of the girls are seniors who are going to graduate this year. So, unless we have newbie girls next year, our team is going to be all guys.

Hmm…
The poll results are a bit disturbing: we have about 75% guys on our team, but ideally it should be 50/50, right?
Hopefully, things will begin to turn around, and we’ll get a more even distribution of FIRSTers through the years.
Hey, that’d be an interesting experiment: put up this poll each year, and see if there are any trends. I think that we’ll begin to get closer and closer to 50/50 as time passes, and FIRST grows in size, and visibility.

team 25 is somewhat girl deprived. we only have 3 female members. maybe the hawaiian shirts scare them away. or maybe its just the really strange people on our team.
we have only 3 girls. We do however, have alot of women(like engineers and moms) on the team also.
I would just like to take this oppurtunity to also thank all the mom’s on moe. Thanks for all your hard work and creative ideas. GO MOE BOOSTERS
Our evolution, since we started doing FIRST:
2000 - 12 men : 0 women
2001 - 5 : 1
2002 - 2 : 1
(proportions, not actual numbers)
So, women participation is getting bigger every year.
Allright: continuing the tradition of the girl dominated team every year at our school; team 128 has: 17 girls, 8 guys:D
i dont know why we always have more girls than guys, but we do
Our team’s split about 50/50, and has been for the four years i’ve been involved. Most of the team’s leadership are girls, as are about half the engineers. It’s nice to know we’re ahead of the curve, even though all the alumni are guys.
I’m one of 12 girls on a team of 35 total, so basically one third of team 103 is girls. Each girl has a very important role, including team secretary, treasurer, and vice president. What would the guys do without us? haha. jk I have to give the guys some credit too… we’d have no one to build the robot without them. :o)
Our team has about 13 members and only 2 are boys. The positions are equally split we have a girl and guy driver and me and another guy as human player. last yr we were a team of over 50 and there were way more boys that girls. Fortunately most of them graduated. While me and the girl driver are graduating this yr there will be an opportunity for the other girls to step up. Unless we get some “fresh blood” that is composed of alot of boys. But anyways he all get along pretty great and I don’t see the guys complaining about their being the overflow of girls.
team 668 is predominantly female we are very proud of this.
my memory says 14 female to 9 male, but i think my count is a little bit off…alot of the females help with animation and chairmans, but there are about 5 of us that help extensively with the robot itself. all of the females play and important role on the team. even if it’s small, we can’t do without it. i have informally taken a few roles (we don’t have actual offices on the team) girls rock!! (i guess guys do too… ;))
