What makes a shooting mechanism precise

I’ve been lately thinking about what makes for a precise shooting mechanism. Thinking of the physics, how spin consistency matters, consistent motor power and speed, shape of the shooter. What have teams that have made very successful shooting mechanisms found to be the main parts that contribute to precision? How did you make that? What is the reason behind it?

Precise: tight grouping of shots. Consistently hitting the same place

To be precise, you need to shoot exactly the same way every single time. Thus, your game piece must leave the shooter at the correct speed, angle, and spin with the lowest tolerance possible.

Strong controls are the best way to become very precise. If you can control your robot, you can control your game piece.
