My team has always put out very impressive robots mechanically, but lacked software wise. I want to step their game up. Now that most code releases are out, what teams are doing impressive things software wise? Whether it is speed, concurrency, etc.
I’ve studied 254 like a textbook but I am sure there are other teams out there worth talking about. Would love to hear your guys thoughts.

971 always does some amazing stuff with their code, controls, etc.

Yeah the arm-thingy they had some sort of custom motion profiling. 1690 and 2056’s autos were awesome.
Within Indiana, 1747 has had some very good control the last few year.

971 code isn’t the easiest to jump into from ordinary FRC code. Here are some videos describing the sorts of things that make it special:
and then of course there’s the CD threads they put out with their yearly software release.
971 is proud to release our 2019 software. We’ve been doing some cleanup which delayed the release. We had some great students this year.

We had an on-field localizer which fused 5 IR cameras together and was used to follow trajectories and used in conjunction with our new spline code for our 2 disc cargo-ship auto. This was on top of the fast statespace controls for the superstructure.
We are in the process of revamping our pubsub system to make it …
We’ve finally finished cleaning up our software from this year, and are ready to release it. Thanks to all the 971 team members who contributed this year. I’m definitely proud of this year’s bot and the software that was written to make it move. I think I can safely say that this year’s bot continues the trend of being even more complicated than the previous year’s bot.

We are always happy to answer questions about what we do or why we do it, and also…
In March I had the pleasure of being a Robot Inspector at the Sacramento Regional. One of the Robots I had the pleasure of inspecting was 971’s Mammoth!
Let’s just say, they do things a bit differently than your standard robot when it comes to their control of the robot. Sure, they have the requisite cRIO, DSC, PDB, radio etc. but that’s where it ends. They also have custom built circuit boards, custom sensors that you can now buy , and I believe offboard processor(s) just to name a few.
I’m in…

900 uses ROS with several Nvidia Jetsons to control their robot. It’s very impressive, in a very different way than 254 or even 971. I’m not sure of the best place to begin to learn about it, but I’m sure @marshall can link one of their great papers.
