Well, I bought a length of fabric and hung it on my wall, and attached everything to that. It’s way better than a poster for wall decoration, and every time I see it I have an amazing desire to go find a bandsaw.
Wow, lol, that’s amazing. (And no, I didn’t see your post before I posted mine lol!)
I’ve seen some people put it all over their “competition backpacks”. They look pretty stylin’.
I personally just keep them all in shoeboxes…several shoeboxes. lol They pile up quickly.
People should post pic of their button paraphernalia like wall displays or backpacks
- cover a throw pillow top with them
- cover a lampshade with them
- make a large shape out of cardboard and cover it with buttons. A peace sign would look cool about 4’ tall by 3’ wide…

All 2005 Galileo Teams are represented here on this banner.
We were tired, but not ready to go to sleep. Need I say more? Atlanta 05’
Edit
Big thanks to Nick from our team for collecting all of those buttons!! He is the one to the far right who is holding the edge of the banner.
wow…i took the bandanna that 375 was giving out and NJ and filled that with buttons, then i filled up 4 autodesk bandannas with buttons from Atlanta
I love what the_short1 has done with his buttons.

Occassionally I wear them to school and last year I put them all on a 5’ long ribbon. There was barely enough room for them all!
button clad armor my friend. works well at competition with an 05 217 chicken hat
Usually I give them to my little sister to try and get her interested in FIRST so when she hits high school she will do it, but after seeing that Cougar banner, I have been inspired to try and make a ginormous outline of a CircuitRunner and write our name and team number below it, all out of buttons.
My first year in FIRST, I collected tons of buttons. I quickly realized that I didn’t know what to do with any of them. I put most of the buttons from that first year in a box, and resolved not to accumulate any more buttons
Now I only collect ones from teams I have a good relationship with, or ones that get handed to me in the pits. It’s amazing how many you get without even trying. Those ones I give to my younger brother, who actually goes out and collects buttons, unlike me.
Cubical walls appear to have been designed to hold hundreds of FIRST buttons
thats what you need, a cubical in your bedroom :^)
Im on old fashioned guy. We get new team shirts every year so I just keep them attached to that years shirt
I made a desktop Christmas tree using some old wire hangers and buttons. It is sitting in my basement somewhere, It was really easy to do and looks cool. Create the frame using wire hangers, then pin the buttons on the frame, if the frame bends (mine did a bit) throw bandanas around it and pin the buttons on the bandana.
You can also pin them to the back of your car seat, my teammate Mark decided to do that to my car on a recent roadtrip. I don’t reccomend sitting anyone behind that seat though (it could be dangerous in a crash)

Like Jeff, I have too many buttons, so now I only collect from teams that I’m good friends with, or have a design that I think is particularly spiffy. They hang on my staff lanyards.
i love making collages and scrapbooks so last year, i took a big bag of my buttons, took the metal backings out and made a scrapbook out of them, its preettyy darn dandy.
this year i have yet to deside to do with my buttons, i like the throw pillow idea someone came up with earlier. :]
I took all my buttons and put them on my lamp. you can’t see the fabric…its covered in buttons. it looks pretty nifty.
One I thought of today would be to make a window valance and cover it with the buttons. It would have to be sturdy but a springrod would probably hold it. I think a button covered valance would be cool or even go across in a line along the hem. Be cool on a dust ruffle too.
