Just wanted to hear what everybody thought. Personally I think balls help you get highly seeded. High seed means early pick. Early pick lets you be with who you want. So I think a strong hybrid will be in the winners circle.
we are a strong hybrid
Technically it could swing either way:–
1-goal grabber: Could ally with a 2-goal grabber, or a good ball bot and either run interference for their alliance, or hold the goal for the ball bot. (won a regional 10+ times)
2-goal grabber: Could ally with another 2-goal grabber and eliminate all 3 goals (you need a goal to put the balls in). (won a regional 14+ times)
Ball bot: Could ally with a good 1- or 2-goal grabber and fill up the goals they own with alot of balls. (won a regional 10+ times)
Hybrid: Could ally with either 3 of the three machines above and either grab a goal and fill it with balls, eliminate all three goals, or fill a goal grabbed by their partner with balls. (won a regional 4+ times)
Though the championship alliance of Battlecry III could be comprised of any of these machines, my vote will sway towards the hybrid for 2 reasons:[list=1][li]I am biased.
[/li][li]A hybrid presents the average of both worlds and in the event that something goes wrong, they have a few options as to how they can handle the situation (they can do which ever task a situation calls for).
[/li][/list=1]When I say a robot type won a regional, I am referring to the number of times a robot of said type shows up on the championship alliance. For example:
[Regional 1 Winners]
team 60
team 66
team 67
[Regional 2 Winners]
team 66
team 67
team 68
[Regional 3 Winners]
team 67
team 68
team 71
Would translate to:
1-goal grabber: (won a regional 2+ times)
2-goal grabber: (won a regional 3+ times)
Ball bot: (won a regional 0+ times)
Hybrid: (won a regional 3+ times)
You know what would help? I want a list put together on how every competitor registered from this years Battlecry did in thier regionals and in Nats. I would love to do it but I am impatient and can’t stand looking up all the info on my 56k modem.
You can get all the teams here:
well there arent that many hybrids out there… so of course the numbers wont be high, but i have to agree that they have the best chance

**Would translate to:**1-goal grabber: **(won a regional 2+ times)
**2-goal grabber: **(won a regional 3+ times)
**Ball bot: **(won a regional 0+ times)
**Hybrid: **(won a regional 3+ times) **
Honestly, how many bots this year only went for balls and ignored goals completely? We had our one goal grabber and used it to keep the goal in place as we dumped balls…but honestly i think almost every bot that handled balls could handle one goal

Almost…We can grab 2 goals if we need to, one with each arm, but generally we’d just grab one with both arms, and if we had 2 goals we’d have the treads down…
Depends on what you mean by ‘handle’.
95 could latch onto a goal, and in a pinch hold it in position (or at least slow it down). It was difficult to push or pull the goal, and there was no way we could turn with it. If we thought some one was going to steal it from us, we usally just let go, since our latch was very weak. The only reason we had any method of latching a goal was to facilitate our ball dumping. If we could think of a way to do it with out latching, we would have.
We handle goals about as well as 25 handles balls: we can nudge them around, but don’t expect us to do much scoring with them. We are a straight out ball handler, goals just arn’t our thing. We very well may be the weakest goal handler in the game. But then again, we can pick up 20 balls in 6 seconds, so it balences out in qualification rounds. Finals are a diffrent story…

i think a strong 2 goal grabber and a hybrid will take Battlecry
Did you mistake my example for the actual stats? OR were you just quoting my post to tell me something?

i believe that 2 goal towers/pushers is a must for winning a comp. if you can do this, it would only allow teams such as 173 and 121 to just score balls.
just my 2 cents worth

Well, I just found out that 95 is indeed going to battlecry.
Guess who that one vote on ball handlers is?
hehehe… Never doubt the power of a grasshopper.

Cool 37 Teams going. This is going to be awsome. I have alwaws liked the 95 machine.
I don’t see you on the list of warriors, but I will meet you in Battle Cry.
Who’s not coming to Battlecry then allowing 95 to get in under the wire? Haven’t seen the warrior list changed to reflect that… just curious?
I’m not privy to the inside details, but according to our head coach, earlier this evening a ‘Ken’ offered us a spot if we could get back to him quickly. A request for a pit crew and drive team was sent out and our coach called back, and Ken signed us up.
We’ve only been in for a few hours. Now to figure out how to let my boss know im not going to be at work saturday…
