Hello again, I’m from team #8276, I wanted to know which sensors we could use in the competition, and what their limitations are.
You can use any sensor that cost less than $600. The WPILib docs has a good overview on different sensors useful in FRC.
There are limitations on the type of laser you can use, if you are using a sensor that IS a laser.
The Garmin time of flight / distance sensor is an example of a laser that is legal.
The Deathstar™ is an example of a laser that is not.
Most sensors are NOT lasers. A sensor will list what class laser it is if it is a laser.
There is no limitation on sensors like ultrasonic, IR / retro reflective / beam break, etc.
Good point, usual caveats about safety apply; following other rules apply.
