What you think Summer Robotics will be like?!

FIRST might be moving to the Summer! Do you think there will be any upsides?

I mean the walk from the hotel to the arena won’t be as cold, so that alone makes me excited! Plus there won’t be a mountain of winter coats in the pit.

And think of all the cool activities we could do in our off time. My team usually does something fun after our competition on Saturday like lazer tag or a trampoline park, but think of the things we could do in the summer. Anyone want to go to a water park or have a game of Paintball?

Sounds like fun, but I have two things that may should be taken into consideration.

  • Some will want to take classes over the summer, so they would have to balance the two.
  • It would be great for incoming freshmen to gain experience for attending regions and get to know the team by doing fun activities after regionals.
  • However, they may receive a lack of training until the “season” is over as the team is heavily focused on the robot.

This is what I feel like, but I would be interested in how a summer league works, so I’m open to the idea

where did you hear about first moving to Summer?

Sorry! I phrased that wrong. I shouldn’t have said that “FIRST is moving to summer” it really should have been “FIRST might be moving to the summer”. I can’t english today.

I found out some info today from one of our team alums who helps plan and find venues for FIRST events. He heard from other coordinators that FIRST might be moving the suspended regionals to sometime in June. So its more of a rumor than anything. Sorry for the misinformation or confusion.

The post was made more to talk about what FIRST in the summer would be like.

Anyway, I will now fix the “is” and replace it with “might be”. Sorry for the confusion!

Unless there’s a thunderstorm.

The boy is hit, lit up against the sky, like a sign, like a neon sign
And he crumples, drops into the gutter, cuts strange, legs twitching
The flood swells his clothes and delivers him on, delivers him on
