I think there are a few good robots

Team 118, is overall good. I think they took down all 7 stacks today in atleast one match. Also a fantastic king of the hill.

Team 148 is great at attacking the stack, they take down 5 stacks in under 10 seconds.

Team 1108, the first place team, is doing an awesome job at driving and has some good strategy.

CRyptonite is stacking up a storm and is my far the best stacking bot i have seen this year.

By the way, please come up to be and talk to me tommorow if you see me at the competition, i’m the only guy from Cyber Blue.

704 is a zippy bot. And I agree about 1108. They’re very good for being a rookie team. From how they were doing one wouldn’t guess they were. Most of the teams with a good auto. program are doing very well. Also, thanks for saying 118 is doing good.We kept having problems with our gears so we spent, basically, all of thursday fixing that and then we had to fix our auto. By the end of the day however, everything was working great. We achived our goal. To make our drivers not have a job  - Heather

1108 has impressed me since Thursday, when they were one of very few teams that showed up with a well-working robot, and more spirit than I’ve ever seen in a rookie team. Both of their awards today were well-deserved.

I’ve also been impressed by 624 Cryptonite, 704, 34, 647 and 148, who has a pretty impressive autonomy period featuring this cool little sensor head that pops up and sweeps back and forth. It reminds me of the little radar that Johnny 5 has in Short Circuit.

There have to be some more teams who I’ve not mentioned, and to whom I’ll have to award belated props tomorrow.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FREAKING OUT NOW…

624, 238, AND 178…AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Congrats to my home team THE ROBONAUTS 118 for winning the REGIONAL CHAIRMANS AWARD!!!

Congrats to Lucien Junkin for winning the Volunteer of the year award.

Congrats to team 1010, 704, and 118 for Regional Finalists.

Great regional, great action. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time watching you guys and all the teams there.

That had to be one of the most exciting elimnation series ive seen yet. I was cheering for you guys the whole time in up here in Lubbock.

I cant wait to congratulate all of you guys in person next week. Sorry I couldnt be there this year for regionals, but im going to be there next week cheering you guys on at Relaint Park.

Good Luck!!!

Since the FIRST site doesn’t have a list yet, can anyone tell me about awards from Lone Star? I’m naturally interested about my brother’s team - 1164, but curious about the others also.

The list is now up! http://www2.usfirst.org/2003comp/events/TX/awards.html
Check it out man!! unfortunatly 1164 didn’t win any awards. They did do very well in the quarterfinals. We actually thought they were going to beat us. It was so close. 1 point. In all I think every robot there was very good. 1108 seemed to sweep the awards this year. Props to them. Guess we’ll be seeing them at Naitonals and maybe we’ll even see them in the finals again. - Heather

WHAT ABOUT TAEM 231??? :yikes:

TEAM 231 SORRY:ahh:

Cute signature there, Heather.

And on to new business - major thanks go out to 118’s awesome alliance partners, 1010 and 704, who took the #6 seeded alliance to within 6 measley points of a regional championship. Also, congratulations to 647, 1108, and 34 (did I call it up there, or did I call it?) on a very exciting elim series and the regional championship.

Also a big thanks to teams 57 and 647 for giving us two of our biggest challenges of the regional in matches 68 and 80.

And way to go, Pasadena 231 on your high seed, excellent elim play, and regional sportsmanship award.

To all the teams, I had loads of fun - this year’s game is incredible to watch and to play. I’d have to say that the only change I’d make to this year’s LSR is six measley points.

all i have to say is:

I’m sooo proud of my team…I makes me extremely happy to be an alumni of 238  i love you guys to death…

Thank you 624 for picking them as an alliance
Thank you 178 for being awesome as well!!!

You guys make me sooo happy!!!

CONGRATS TO ALL THE OTHER TEAMS AS WELL!!!

I first would like to say great job to all the teams that compeded at the reginal it was my first year and man was it fun.

Also a special thanks to teams 118, 704, 1010, 34, and 1108 for giving probly the best two matches of the reginal. It was very close only 6 points.

I would first like thank everyone for the props to my team. With a little strategy, work, and a lot of luck( thank you for not tipping) we were able to impress y’all. Wait I’m from Kansas not Texas I shouldn’t be using y’all, oh well, I’ll be back there this week. So thanks y’all for the great you showed us a Lone Star and good luck to y’all at the championship.

PS Heather118 I will finally get my brochure.

I do have one question to whomever can answer it - how did 116 win the visualization award without showing up? Granted, they had an amazing animation, but can anyone just enter their animation at any regional?

This type of problem has happened alot this year, especially with awards concerning animation or other things that generally dosen’t get the recognition it deserves. Apparently there was one team, i forget the number, that was at a regional and, on the same day, won an award at a different regional. It’s just something that FIRST is slipping up on this year, but I’m sure it’ll all be fixed next year.

The lone Star Regionals went pretty well. 364 had an awesome time pushing all the other robots around but I guess the championship just was not meant to be. After pushing 118 over, the only team to do so, in the first round of semifinals it was just bad luck that our partner got pushed out of the arena and we fought by ourselves and lost by 1 stinkin point. 105 to 106 We had some good robots at our regional. I think some of every teams best games were not played on saturday but in qualifyers. Speaking of 118, we were partnered with them in the match before finals. It was awesome because it was 118 and 364 up against the number 1 and 7 seeds(1108 & 34) We kicked butt. That was one of our better games because of the fact that we ended up pushing 118 up the ramp out of the position from which they were stuck in. We had a great go at it and are looking forward to next years competition. I would like to give a big thanks to 1164. Especially their driver. That team is what gracious professionalism is all about. You guys were awesome and I look forward to driving with you again.
