It’s in there, taking up space next to the drill press and band saw. It will be departing soon, so I thought I should make this thread before it’s gone.
(To be completely truthful, it’s only the second most unusual item in the workshop. I’m guessing someone else has one of those, but not the of the most unusual item).
We have a folded up treadmill in the software/business area that people keep walking into. The reason for this is that we meet in a mentor’s garage, which is also used as a home office.
We happen to meet in an elementary school abandoned in 2012. This means that there are painted handprints on the walls, along with several rooms and an entire upper floor filled with school supplies from the early 2000s. Some things include old computers with crt monitors, and old boombox that has a cd of kids nursery rhymes, and lots of random books.
A tequila bottle pinata I think. Several low end digital cameras, audio and stage equipment I think, and several Thomas the Tank Engine sets for Trackmaster.
So I found out that this is the airplane in the workshop. We also have the wings hanging on the wall in a different room. It’s all going away, soon, which makes me happy (for more space) but also sad (because having an airplane in your workshop is unique and cool).
Hey, we have a couple of those in the same building as our workshop. It even has a photo of Dean Kamen next to it and you can ride them through a maze.
Having our workshop inside of a big science museum gets us all around kinds of cool stuff.
Last year’s Impact video was shot onboard a Pullman parlor car.
When we started the team a little over two years ago, we had to wait for the traveling Sherlock Holmes exhibit to get packed up and moved out so we could move in.
